Aluiminum Block?

Newb question, i know...but my dad keeps telling me how his corvette has a "aluminium block" and says *sarcasticly* does your cobalt have that?

my question is..does the LE5/LSJ have a aluminium block? im leaning towards no but just wanted to clarify.

thanks

I'm pretty sure the only GM engines that are still iron block is the truck line of V8's.

Yeah, Aluminum blocks aren't anythng new.

If you wanna prove it's an aluminum block, throw a magnet at it

Its common knowledge that all the Ecotecs are aluminum block and head.

However I remember one thread where a guy insisted that only the SC engine was aluminum... LOL

I doubt you will find anything that says it's aluminum because that really isn't news. You wanna really impress your dad? Tell him you have Variable Valve Timing, which his Corvette does not.

We have a reenforced aluminium block look it up. Still accellerates like a limp hand shake though.
