Brake Dust?

Anybody out there know of a good break pad that does not have much break dust? I had Weaver gold series on my cavalier, and they were alot better than stock. Did not have to wipe them down as much. I clean the wheel REALLY good at the car wash, and by the time I get home, I have to wipe them down again. Same thing everyday, before I leave to work, and when I get there, wipe them down AGAIN . Any ideas on different break pads?

06 2.4L 5-speed.

oppps one more thing, i do not break at the last minute. I slow down and down shift more then anything. But I do not ride the breaks. Also the car has just over 3700 miles on it.

i feel your pain man, its a pain in the ass keeping the rims clean. I hear EBC green stuff make decent pads for our cars.. I know theres some stuff out there that can help repel brake dust but i've never tried it.

What about waxing the wheel? Would that help to repel the dust?

In my experience AC Delco factory pads are some of the best brake pads on the market. They stop well, don't sqeak, and last a damn long time. My Dad's 03 Chevy Express 3500 has 40,000 miles on it and he's still on the stock pads, not to mention he carries about a 2,000lb payload daily.

As for brake dust, I don't know what to tell you about that. I've never really noticed much of an issue with AC Delco pads, and I can't imagine aftermarket pads are any better, unless they specifically state "low brake dust" or something along those lines.

i too have heard from many people that AC Delco pads are very very good.. but if you want the EBC's http://www.ebcbrakes.com/Automotive.html scroll down to green stuff.

get some better rotors. Better ones will take away from brake dust.

Better rotors. Like you have room to talk. 2.2L. I believe you still have drums in the rear. Thank-you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You get better rotors, and try 4 wheel disc breaks. And if I am not mistaken, I believe my front rotors are almost the size of your wheels.

No matter how good the brake pads are, you're always gonna get at least SOME brake dust, especially on the drive wheels. Cross-drilled or slotted rotors definitely do a great job eliminating that, but that's expensive.

They are extremely good!!!! Keep this in mind but I drive a full-size truck...i Drive it like a race car...and it has oversized wheels and tires!!!!! So far I have only had to have the break pads replace once....front only...and that was at/around an amazing....90k miles No BS!!!!! I love my brakes and I always have had people tell me that because I have oversized wheels and tires that I have to replace my factory brakes...BS...althoug if I had the money I would!!!! But in all seroiusness...the Brakes WORK excellent and last forever.

that was uncalled for. he merely suggested to you that getting better rotors would eliminate some of your BRAKE dust. for example slotted rotors help from getting BRAKE dust to your wheels. your post made you sound like an ass. if you can't take other members opinions then don't post at all. you are the one asking for help and someone tries to help you and you respond like an ass. and for God's sake it's spelled BRAKE not break. i edited your title at least. have a nice day.

You can always go with a ceramic pad, they work well little dust and the dust it makes it is clear.

Mine just went in to get the brakes checked for the 2nd TIME today. Resurfaced the rear rotors this time. My fronts make brake dust like no tomorrow and are grooved somethin hella awful.

I've got 6,000 miles.... just hit that today.

Yeah, I changed from winter wheels to summer and the 2 front ones where solid with brake dust. The rotors had deep grooves in them, and now I notice that my braking isnt as solid as it used to be.
