burning smell

burning smell

after driving the car hard i can smell some thing burning. i thank it is the exhaust. can some one help me.

that rules that out.

i ran over a plastic bag one time and it melted on the muffler and it stunk,could that be the case?

It should go away soon. I have that same problem with mine. If I don't drive the car hard for 2 months or so, then race somebody I get that burnt smell from the engine bay. You can hear metal contracting as well.

nothing to worry about its prb just b.c u havnt run the car real hard in a while..carbon and **** all backed up in it..if i drive my car like a grannie for about 2 weeks puttin along.. and then slam on it one day black smoke comes out my exhaust and u can smell clutch and tire when u get outta the car..lol

are you braking hard? it could be the brakes. but if the car wasn't driving hard then you could be burning of some of the deposits that are in the engine/exhaust. what kind of smell is it?

If you just got a new exhaust it will smell like **** in and outside of the car until the exhaust breaks in. I know my magnaflow smelled like **** for acouple of days.

You said your an AUTO... so nothing else should smell like its burning, lol. Did you check the oil? Are you really low, or is the oil dirty? Some sort of brake problem? Are your pads close to gone? Check the simple stuff yourself and if non of the above is wrong, take it to the dealer, have them check it out. You still under warrenty?

Mine had this problem for two weeks after I got my magnaflow. All good now, I think it was built up deposits...
