CAI from 04 2.2 different...

from my 07 2.4 Ion...

the MAF on my 2.4 is actually combined wiht my ATS... WTF!!

I bought a CAI from CMS here in calgary that was supposed to be for a 2004 Ion 2.2L, i went to install it and my sensor is SQUARE and the hole is round!! i was soo pissed!?

now when did they change that over to 1 sensor instead of 2??

now i need to find a different CAI and i REALLY wanted this one.. it was on clearance brand new for $216.00!

What made you by a part for a 2004 model year 2.2 engine when you have a 2007 2.4 engine? That doesn't even make sense.

thinking relatively about engine setup and interchangable parts, as well as the fact the one guy said it would work...

so .. if u dont have anything constructive to add to the topic.. please leave! honestly.. this is all i see around the whole site is people bashing other people, or picking fights.. i asked a simple question..

THE INTAKE FIT and went exactly where is was supposed to go! jus the plug changed, therefore i asked WHAT year it changed....

Well, I don't have an answer for you. But I can guess it would be the year they started putting LE5 engines in the car. Different engine, different MAF is my logic.

I haven't heard of any problems with the Cobalt's MAF's being different between the L61 and LE5 engines. Their intakes are completely interchangeable. Maybe just a Saturn thing.

Bonzai, no need for that. His question is valid, why would you buy a part for a late model car/engine and expect it to work without doing the research?

You could of atleast called around to ask if they would fit...

but all i can suggest now is trying to get a refund asap, and tell the guy who said it would work is a idiot....

The 03 and 04 Ions have a map sensor in there intake, you needed to buy an 05+ intake to work on your Ion as that is when they switched to the MAF sensor we have. If you have any more questions regarding yout Ion you need to check out www.************** you will get all the answers you need there

I knew that the intakes for the 05+ 2.2s and 2.4s were the same. Didn't say a thing about it applying to models from previous years.
