Question CEL from intake??

Just installed a Fujita CAI today, and after driving for a short period of time the CEL came on. How do I get rid of the CEL? could it be that i put the MAF on facing the wrong way? or does it not matter? I know that the 2.2 throws a CEL with the aftermarket intake because of the SAI, but havn't heard anything about the 2.4 doing the same. Can anyone help me out? any info would be much appreciated.

thanks,
Q

it's because the sensors are getting more air than what it's programmed for. double check to make sure that everything is tight and there's no leaks. it's probably the p0071 which plenty of people get. as long as it's installed properly, there's no leaks, and it's driving the same as it was, it's safe to delete the code and forget about it. you can try disconnecting the negative side of the battery for a few minutes, that should clear it if you don't have a scanner. it may or may not come back.

isn't there screws in the hole in the intake that only let you put it one way? all the different intakes i've seen you can't put it in wrong because the holes won't line up.

I just took a look at the MAF again and i noticed that there is a small arrow on it. i had it on correctly already so it's probably not that. After i disconnected the battery the CEL came back again ...I mean the car runs fine. I havent noticed it doing anything strange. It's just that the CEL bugs the hell out of me every time i look down at the gauges. I guess i'll just have to take it somewhere to get it scanned and have the code erased.

get yourself a code reader. you can get a decent one for around 100 dollars. you can scan your own codes, and delete them. if you plan on modding your car just spend the money and get one. it will avoid you having to post "hey guys, what's this cel from" many times down the road!

yea I might just get a code reader myself. Yea i believe it uses an oiled filter. i was planning on switching to an aem dry flow filter or a steel mesh one because of the problems with an oiled filter. but yea..that's the thing i hate about newer cars..they're so sensitive to everything. thanks for the input guys. much appreciated
