clicking noise coming from the engine

soo i just started to notice a like high pitch "playing card on bicycle spokes" noise coming from my engine. the only time i hear is tho is when im hittin the gas... any idea. my dad kinda wondered if it was coming from my short ram air intake.... yall got any idea what this noise is comin from.....i think its kinda of a dumb question but my dad was wonderin if i was have to tune my car since i put on a new air intake and a the jet mass air flow sensor.

haha well when im in the car it sounds like its comin from the right side of the engine department... ya not so helpful soo i had opened the hood and listened for it and had my dad rev it for me... and its harder to hear it.. u can only really hear it when your driving down the road.of course. haha now that i think of it u think it could be maybe a exhaust leak from like the downpipe maybe...

It's most likely your timing chain tensioner, is the noise coming from the left side of the engine? I just started having the same ticking noise, i guess its pretty common on the ecotec engines.
I have 45,000 miles as well.

I ordered the updated one from crate engine depot, ill be installing it soon and doing a how to, if it fixes the ticking then your in luck!

i have the same thing on my 2.4 i didnt notice it until i put my intake but then again i didnt know if it was there before because it was winter when i got the car so i didnt really open the hood and examine anything until it was a little warmer which was when i put on my intake. everything seems to be fine though ive had the car a year and the intake probably about 9 months and no problems so i dunno maybe its normal but i only hear it when i open the hood if u hear it when ur driving then it might be something different your talking about.

Had a similar sound I found that it was coming from the blower fan for the heater.

Without hearing it could be so many things. Does it go away when it's warmed up?

injector tick is common i guess on the ss/tc due to direct injection, it shouldn't be that way on the 2.4, but ill let you guys know soon as it gets here.
