Cold Air Intake vs Ram Air

I just bought my '06 Cobalt SS 2.4L. It's still under warranty but I want to do everything I can to make it run faster and more fuel efficient. I found that GM makes a ram air intake, but not a cold air intake. Would it be better to wait for the warranty to expire and to get Injen's CAI instead of getting the RAI?
What are some other mods that give you the most "bang for your buck" on the 2.4L?
Any help is appreciated! Thanks!

the GM RAI is like 300 in something, I would just get teh injen intake because you can do both set ups. more bang for your buck IMO

Installing the Injen CAI WILL void your warranty. However, its not rocket science to put on and take off so you can just switch intakes if you have to take your car to the dealer.

Nope it will not void your warranty just put stock back on if you needed to go back to the dealership and didn't feel comfortable that it would void it

Haha yup what he said

warrenties are voided by an aftermarket part CAUSING any given failure, not for simply existing on the car.

to...in a sense....back this up....the Volant intake on my boss's Silverado SUPPOSIDLY caused the "blow by" from the crank case vent to clog the MAF sensor and pretty much every other sensor down the line....all the way down to the tranny. I guess it caused $7K worth of warranty work. He was pretty pissed. I guess when he gets it back he's gonna sell it and buy a Ford. I told him he's making an even bigger mistake.

This is my experience as well. I had over a thousand dollars of warranty work performed on my car while the AEM cold air intake was installed and not a word was said. Could be different depending on your dealership as stated. As for more bang for the buck mods, I would go with lowering springs or exhaust components. The XTC downpipe looks like a good deal if you consider price to proposed gains. Also, a shorty antenna does not hurt the look of the car one bit.

its all just a tube with a cone filter on it lol not gunna be a big difference either way. i personally have the K&N Typhoon have had no problems and love it. which ever intake you choose will not void your warranty unless there is a problem with that specific part then its your responsibility to take care of it. For example if you need a new strut or a fuel tank sensor goes ( it happened to me) they have to fix it under warranty because the intake had nothing to do with it. If there is a problem they have to prove that your aftermarket part caused it then they dont have to fix it under warranty on that certain part.

another note on the k&n is that k&n guarantee there intake will not void any warranty and they back it up by giving you a number you can have the shop call. they have worked with all manufactures to make shore all warranty's are safe. so I personally think k&n is the best bet. plus they have tested there sri for the 2.4 and saw a gain of 15 HP.

I was always to that as long as the part is specific for the car then it won't void warranties, for the small stuff at least, like intake, exhaust that type of stuff.
