Question coolent question

So the car started over heating this morning on my way to work in a longer than usual traffic jam... Info center was reading almost 230*. Replaced the thermostat when I got home with a 180* thermo thinking it was just stuck as it has 95k miles on it. Turned on the car over and it got up to 220* before I noticed the fan wasn't kicking on. Went and bought 2 new relays as the fuses were fine and now notice the temp creeps up to 217*, fan kicks on and brings it down to 192* then shuts off and lets it creep up again.

Is this normal for the fan to kick on at 217* and not lower a lower temp?!

Is this something that if I were to tune the car they could tell the computer to kick it on at like 200*?

Car always drove at 201* with the old thermo previously and now seems to flux between 185* and 194* while driving. Temp only creeps up while in park, stop lights, etc

Thanks!

Coolant 192 196 199 203 207 210 214 217 221 225 228 232 235 239 243 246 250
Fan% _ 0.0 4.7 9.3 14.0 18.7 23.3 28.0 36.0 44.0 52.0 60.0 68.0 76.0 84.0 92.0 100.0 100.0

Those are the temps and corresponding fan% from a stock tune.

It can be adjusted in a tune.

185ish+ is normal when cruising. When you stop air is not moving through the rad and the rpms are down so the coolant is not being circulated quickly so the eng temp will rise at idle/low speed.

Mine is set at 50% at 192 and 100% at 196
and only because of forced induction.

Any number besides 0 in the 192 degree cell will make the fan run at 100% at all temps. The 192 cell is the only one that can't be edited properly. Someone double check that though...

I see those numbers all of the time. Probably has to do with the turbo though lol. Generates a tremendous amount of heat. Might consider that aftermarket radiator that some vendor was trying to push on here.

My tuner was saying the LSJ radiator is good enough (not sure if its the same one as lower end models)

Only thing i could think of is there is too much water content and not enough coolant.

Coolant not only prevents freezing but raises boiling temp.
