Custom Air Intake?
personally wut i did was. take out the stock air filter..and also there is a big piping container below the air box at the top of the engine. i did this on my 2.2. i removed it and ran 3" piping from that whole to a k&n filter e1009 and mounted it. it worked soo good. it was only like 80 bucks. and was really good. thats wut i recommend.

Omg enough with the ugly duck taped intake already!! Here, I bought one of the pep boys kits. It looks clean, noticable performance AND it sounds great! I had a piece of custom exhaust tubing drilled for the MAF but then I bought the 90 dollar cold air off ebay. It was **** so I cut out the MAF bung and attached it on, so the spot where it looks all grey and **** is now shiny and looks like its all one piece.

I will post a better and newer picture of it later.

P.S. I haven't dynoed it since I put the intake in, but I swear after changing from stock, to this, to cold air, and back that the custom one DOES ADD POWER! Throttle response, sounds deeper, flows better. I want to wrap it in the heat wrap to keep the intake charge down more, see if that doesnt do anything. I will be dynoing sometime soon once I have a few other mods in. My baseline was on 87 octane in 3rd gear when it was about 80 outside at 11AM at Millenium Autosports. 150 hp and 148 ft lbs torque. Since then i have added a Stiffy ETD and the short ram with high flow filter (GET A LARGE FILTER OR YOU WILL THROW A CEL AND GO INTO LIMP MODE CONSTANTLY!), plus I now run 93 all the time.

LOOKS SWEET DUDE!
Stick with the larger tubing and filter and you wont throw codes. I couldnt find any pre-drilled MAF slots that fit our sensors.

This is with the new MAF sensor Bung that I sawed off of the 90 dollar CAI because it was a piece of **** that didnt do anything for the Ecotec. High flow is the way to go with these babies!

It was worth consideration. I need to move the tube a little farther up into that open space, more room there. I have been considering also adding that hood scoop with the holes below it like that one guy did (cant think of his name), but it looked really good.

- at least I think I'm the only one "brave" enough to cut up the hood! The nice thing about the GMPP intake is it seals against the bottom of the hood (with a little help) so the intake is true forced air. However, it should help your set-up also. I'd cut out a good sized area for that. In fact, I plan to remove the metal between the holes on mine to increase the air feed cross section.Good luck! And the intake looks good!

How hard is it to paint it and all? I want to try gloss or metallic blue. (Yes I like blue...) As for the hood, I was going to cut out a pretty large area so it would actually help some. I like the way it looks too with the scoop. I didnt actually polish the MAF piece, I sawed a piece off of a cheap ass CAI that actually took away from throttle response and all. It was such a large difference I didnt need a dyno to tell.
