Does the 2.4L have timing chain issues???
my timing belt is OEM replacement. Did it the same day i put the ZZP turbo kit on. Out of paranoia/prevenative, and we had the whole motor ripped apart anyway.
As an update (as of today) i replaced my alternator (re-manufactured) and serpentine (OEM) @ 71k miles.
Alternator shorted (which was my fault) and serpentine was lightly weather cracked (damn cold canada!), but in no way ripped/teared. Again replaced the serpentine out of preventative maintenance ($30 belt) rather than failure
looking at the owners manual

CTRL+F search "6-2"
looks like the serp is good til 150k miles and no mention of timing belt replacement/failure
The timing chain is supposed to be set for lifetime of the car and need not ever be replaced. The tensioners and guides self adjust for slack over time. It is tensioner and guides you have to watch out for, being plastic (re: my post earlier).
I was talking to a freind who has had a few 2.4's twist a cam lobe being these cams on these are hallow this does not surprise me ! also making the timing all crazy! interesting stuff .
