eagle rods and weisco pistons
I know glen broke his rod but from the pic it looked like it was forged. Not sure about the pistons though. It is a good thing to try to get companies to make internals but lets be honest all the Cobalt SS/NA's around me are driven by women who look old enough to be my mother.
I'm faily certain they aren't looking to mod their car lol.

i know someone that used 2.2 eagle rods.. and had custom pistons made for them..
they also put down alot more whp on the dyno on a stock block then other people have and their rods were in perfect shape when they took them out... their sleeves on the other hand.. not so much
I also have some sets of the balance shaft block-off bushings left

so far I havent heard back from them .. i'll have to hit em up ..
i know you can use eagle 2.2 rods then get custom pistons that can keep the price down but i'd like weisco pistons has any one else emailed them?
where would you get the custom pistons made at?
It's awesome to see that you're rebuilding, Glen. What's even more impressive is the power you can reach and most likely will go for using those internals. Keep up the good work!
What pistons are those rods designed for? LSJ or L61 pistons? More specific, what is the pin diameter on those pistons?

Crowers are expensive rods, but they pride themselves on using USA produced steel unlike K1, Eagle etc whom all use foreign steel. Domestic steel is much more expensive, hence the additional cost of the end product, while foreign steel is a fraction of the price, which allows these companies to offer a much lower cost to the consumer.
Who's to say one is better than the other? You can't in many aspects, but the finishing, honing, weight matching and such IMO should be done here like K1 does. Eagle does it all overseas and as a result, you end up spending a touch more at the machine shop should you want to have the entire rotating assembly balanced.
Carrillos are nice rods, but indeed pricey depending on the design you bought and rod bolt used.
