Question ECM Tuners?

I've heard about a lot of different ecm tunes out there but which one works the best in your opinion? How much have you got out of each one and where did you find them? I searched for the Vector Tune and Westers but cant find where to buy one.

Eastern Dallas brian@westerscustomtuning.com Tell him Matt sent you he will do it live no down time . Lyndon Wester has been tuning GM's for 20 yrs read the reviews both are good it's a matter of convenience and if you get rid of your cobalt and get some other GM product we will credit your original purchase price to wards the new tune .

I also forgot I am trying to find something you just add or do yourself. i only have one car. I can send my ecm out to somewhere else or really afford to have someone else do it. I am a broke college kid.

IF you email the email addy listed about, he is the local westers dealer for your area. You could just go to his shop and he will do the tune in like 30 min.

I love my Wester's tune. The car is much more responsive. It's got gobs more torque. No, I haven't had it dyno'd yet (waiting for header,) but it sure downshifts quicker and lites up the tires easier. The burns are longer too. I guess that the timing is so far advanced that when the T/C cuts timing to reduce tire spin that it retards the timing from the advanced setting to about where it was before the tune. With the auto, the engine lugs less (stays in the powerband more), so it is much more fun to drive.

By the way, I was getting 25-27 commuting mpg. Now, after about 4 tanks of gas, I've been getting 28-29mpg doing the same commute, even though I can't resist the urge to accelerate harder - flooring it on every freeway on ramp, traffic permitting.

I give the tune a

PS: I got their aggressive performance tune - not requesting any mileage improvement!

i dont know but it seems to me like sushidog and i are the only ones happy with their tunes.. I still dont comprehend how others do not noticed the difference... sushi, what header are you getting? clear image? i thought it didnt fit the 2.4. I might sell my gmpp header for one of those.

eh i dunno... i put down all performance, not caring about gas mileage and i notice a bigger difference in gas mileage (better difference) than i do performance, guess they are just made for autos and not 5spds..

i think that it would be more noticeable in the auto. honestly, i don't think that the car is tuned badly from the factory. the only complaint that i have is that to me, the car revs down too slowly making quick upshifts a bitch less you wanna slip the clutch.

I'm going with the Clear Image, if they ever come out (and the XTC b-pipe w/cat.) It's been a couple months since I heard from Dan at Clear Image. WTF up?

I guess if no news is good news - We've got good news!

Though I've just heard of the Intense header for the 2.0. It looks a lot like the Clear Image, and I like Intense's rep. If Dan falls through, I just might give them the nod.

By the way, a shorty that fits the 2.0 should fit the 2.4 no problem. The GMPP header is the same and so is SCdyne's. Have you seen the prototype for JBP's equal length shorty? A little pricy, but good **** always is.

This ball of snakes just might be the ticket. I can't wait for some auto rag to come out and do some header dyno's and evals for our car. It'l probably be for the 2.0, but that's ok by me.

yea... kinda sucks, guess i was hoping for a bigger difference, at least the auto guys are enjoying it, maybe i'll continue to add things to the car and get them to re-tune it later, maybe it would be worth it then, i kinda just want to stop putting money into this thing lol

I agree with Joe about upshifting. Although there must be some good tweeks in there...
