exhaust modifications

Hey guys.

I'm in a quandry.

I have the 2.4 SS...so it has the SS s/c tuned exhaust. I like how it sounds. It sounds really cool at WOT. But I want just a little more sound from it. I don't want to change the muffler. If I did, I'd just get a Dynomax Super-Turbo so it was only changed a tad. But I'd rather do other things if I could.

Is there anything like the "U-Bend" on monte carlo's and stuff that you can remove, or super restrictive cats or anything? I'm at a loss of ideas besides just replacing the muffler. And especially since minesa lease and an auto, I don't want it to be rediculous.

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

if you remove the res tho it will get raspy but it will get a little louder, and i dunno if it might be the same as on the rl but on the rl the part of tubing that goes over the rear, it goes from 2.5 to 2.25 into the muffler you can increase the size of that 2.25 into a 2.5 and will have increase flow and it will make it a LITTLE bit louder

How much would that be to take it to Minekie or something and just have them replace it with a straight pipe instead of a resonator? Sounds like it could be interesting...

the res. is to make a deeper sound really if you remove it you will have a raspy sounding exhaust.

Well all i did is replace the muffler with that same one you were thinking about, and i think it is what you are looking for. Sounds like stock just louder. Its a real deep sound, and it gave me about 2 hp.

Yes.

Glasspacks would make my Cobalt sound like a go-kart. haha!

Here's a story for you. What you DON'T want to happen to you... My friend has a Taurus. Yes. A Taurus. 1999 Taurus SE with the dual-cam V6. It's actually probably the only V6 Ford I'd ever buy. Having this said... He decided on modifying it some. He got some subs and a few other things. That's all fine and good. Then he wanted an exhaust. I said "Scott, if you put a fireball muffler on it I swear to God it'll sound like ass." Needless to say, he did. I told him to just put a Dynomax Super-Turbo on it. Sounds almost OEM...but with better flow. Now you can hear him comming from a mile away. And it's not even a raspy Civic style weeeeeeee. It's more of an early-90's Lumina bwerrrrrrrrrr. lol. It's goofy as hell. Plus, aftermarket exhausts on autos usually sound out of place if it isn't a V8 in my opinion. however, salvation is to be had. Come spring, he's taking off the fireball and putting on a Super-Turbo. Go figure.
