sooo, after my ex wrecked the Balt, it's had the CEL on..... codes p0440 and P0455....... EVAP leak small and EVAP leak large........ I had my mechanic smoke the engine, but he coudlnt find any leaks.... he said that when he researched it, one of the major causes after an accident and throwing those codes is due to the battery voltage getting messed up frm the car sitting and it tricks the computer into throwing those codes as an indication that the PCM nedds to be reflashed........ anybody have any ideas?

 

One of those could be from a loose gas cap IIRC.

 

hmmm, yea, it was swearing at me about the gas cap in the mesage center....... that may explain the "small leak".......... its the "large" that really concerns me

 

anybody else have ideas or run into this issue?

 

i came across an issue like this when i was working at ford and did the smoke test and its was comming out of the gas cap; and the big leak you have if you couldn't find it with a smoke machine u can try using a black light if nothing just get ur pcm reflashed your warranty should cover it

 

Have you cleared the codes and they keep coming back?

 

was the accident to the front or rear of the car?

 

the rear..... got the smoke test dont, she crack the EVAP canister...... yeah insurance
