F35 tranny in a 2.4? Possible?

Just trying to figure out what kind of work it's going to take to make an F35 transmission fit an LE5. I ask because I intend to turbo the car, and I don't like the gearing of the Getrag, and I certainly don't like the fact there are no decent aftermarket clutches for the Getrag trans.

If anyone knows whether this CAN be done, and what kind of work it will involve, PLEASE post up. Or PM me, either works.

technically yes.. you could probably get the F35 tranny.. get a ss clutch and a flywheel from the L200 saturn as they also use the L200 but it is used on a 2.2 ecotech..

you couldn't use a exedy hyper single though unless you could get them to make you a 6 bolt flywheel for it

however i've been thinking about doing this same thing.. I can't stand shifting to 4th for the 1/4

I wasn't planning on using an Exedy clutch at all. I was more leaning towards the stage 4+ from ZZP.

Also, I own an SS/TC as well, and I'm more than happy with the gearing in it, so that's my reason for wanting the F35.

So will an L200 flywheel also be compatible with any of the clutch kits designed for the F35 ( IE : Exedy, Spec, ZZP)?

Thanks for the help guys.

i'm not positive .. theres someone on redline forums that did a 2.4 bottom end on their lsj and they bolted up a F35 tranny.. with it .. they did some custom stuff because they didn't want a smaller flywheel or something but it can be done.. search on there about it and pm him maybe

and i dunno if it'll definitely be compatible .. i have not working proof but in theory yes

That was actually the subject of a half hour long talk Tim at ZZP and I had yesterday. We're looking into it, and as soon as I (or he) come up with an answer for it, I'll let you guys know .

I have a funny feeling it's gong to be a real Mickey Mouse kind of setup to make it work, but it should work out for the best.

shifting into 4th for the 1/4 FTL. plus we have to shift into 5th at like 125 which blows because our 5th doesnt pull at all

...whats the F23's 3rd gear ratio?
i was pretty certain the F35 is geared lower than the F23 was...so you'd be shifting into 4th regardless. besides, everyone on this board hates the F35's stupidly short first gear

F23's 1st is super short, but I like it. F35 has longer gears for sure I'm pretty sure. F23's 1st = 35mph, 2nd =60mph, 3rd = 90mph, 4th = 125, 5th = ?

here we go
of course they both use a different final drive as well
F35:
Final:4.05 (the LNF uses a 3.82 final drive ratio)
1st:3.38
2nd:1.76
3rd:1.18
4th:0.89 (isnt this supposed to be .98?)
5th:0.70
F23:
Final:3.94
1st:3.58
2nd:2.02
3rd:1.35
4th:0.98
5th:0.69

im pretty sure most people dont like how short it is not because of the lack of time spent in the gear, but because the gear reduction provides too much power at low speeds on an already traction-less FWD car

Kennyspec - I'm assuming that it will, provided that you use a 2.0 flywheel. That is the issue that I encountered with the F23 to F35 mod.

I only want the F35 because it's 3rd gear is significantly better than that of the F23 ( 100 MPH vs. roughly 85). I don't mind the fact that the F35 has a short first gear, simply because second and third are significantly longer.

I have someone looking into this in detail, so when they tell me what they find, I will report back to everyone else.

good stuff.. thats exactly my problemm.. i'd rather be up in the high rpms longer .. i could easily get a lightened flywheel then i c an have faster revs, and slightly longer gearing i could care less about the final drive for MPG my car has reliquished it's MPG trophy about 6 months ago when i went boosted lol i still have some decent mpg .. but im not upset if it's not as good as before if i can get good power lol

A F23 has been mated to a LSJ that has been put into a cavalier. daflyinsquirrel did it. So i know that the F23 WILL mate to a LSJ. But how does the F23 mount to the subframe and what do the shifter cables/linkages look like. Didnt the F23 also come in the 2.2 and 2.4 cobalt??

The F35 uses a halfshaft to run to the passenger side of the engine. What does the F23 use?

Also what axels would be needed?

that would suck since it seems the 2.4 axles are stronger then the 2.0 axles

can be made to mate, and will mate, are two different things. You can mate a tremec T6060 to the LSJ with (a lot of) fabrication, but that doesnt mean a T6060 will mate to an LSJ

Do you know what fabrication he needed to do?
