flowmaster 40 series
flowmaster 40 series
so i have decided that i am not allowed days off in which i cant spend time with my fiance, because i always find a was to spend money. today i was dropping off some golfing shoes for my future father in law and i drove past bucky's brakes radiator and muffler shop, my memory then kicked in. 2 years ago with my old t-bird i stopped in because the bung that helf in my driver side 02 sensor was stripped, they fixed it for FREE so i promised some day i owuld come back and have them do some exhaust work that i would pay for. so i swung in there and kept my word, i was going to have my resonator replaced with straight pipe, but i decided that since it sits totally straight in line with the rest of hte pipe and doest seem to restrict too much, i just had them replace my stock muffler with a flowmaster 40 series, and then i had them put my factory tip on it. fist thing i noticed is that it doestn stick out like a POS as it did from the factory, he tucked it back so it barely gets past the bumper, which looks very nice, and then he started it! man it sounds really good for a 4 banger, not all high pitched and crackly like a honda, but deep and throaty like a subaru almost. anyways i like it, anybody else have exaust done on their 2.4?

My son-in-law works at a shop that can do this work for me, but I've been reluctant to cut it up unless I knew it would sound great.
As for the tip, the one thing I've been asked more than any other is what aftermarket system I put on my Cobalt (not from the sound, just the look of the tip).
Dude if you like it that's great but I can say from personal experience I had a 40 on the cobalt and it sounded like ass... I put an Apexi N1(glass pack) on and it sounds soooooo good!!!
If anyone else wants a 40 flow I've got one with 5k miles on it shoot me a pm.

Yeah, but i've not had the best luck with ANSA stuff, i have one on my E21... sounds good in that over cammed M10 kinda way, but it's really looking ratty after like a year

What I really want is a Borla, but I'm not aware they build one for our cars.

We're considering using a Borla turbo-style 2.5 dia. muffler and a Borla tip and fab the pipe in 2.5 stainless (about $50 worth of pipe to do the car, plus the muffler and tip). Since the son-in-law works at a shop that also does exhaust systems we can do our own labor.
If we do this I will take pics and post a vid.
