you probably dont want to go WOT....the lower octane wont improve/deprove mileage in any way, but if you try and run your engine hard (aka WOT or on a really hot day) then your going to get some knock.

I run 89 in the summer and I just switched to 87 for the winter since I won't drive it hard/over 4k

next year I might have to run 91 in it since I plan of having it tuned

ive ran 91 in mine all the time never have switched, i do abuse my car in high rpms (daily shifting between 3-4) agressivly take her close to readline, i notice my gas mileage sucks but im sure it has to do with the sri intake i have.

sorry..for some reason i thought u had a s/c. you're fine running lower octane...the ecu will pull timing accordingly. just know you wont be making as much horsepower, but you're still getting the same fuel economy

yeah i believe the manuel says something about that saying you can put 87 but you get worst hp and mpg. so that is why i am going middle ground.

i run 91/93 at all times in the SC. overuse of anything less could result in the dreaded knock. during the summer i got btw 28-31mpg. i'll run 89 once in a blue moon so my wallet can take a breather.

I only use 93 Sunoco and get on average 32MPG according to the DIC. I did once put in 87 and could hear and feel the difference and my mileage dropped to 28MPG.

agreed. if it's that big of a concern, or you can't affford it, get a prius.

i never complain about the price of gas, it is what it is and you have to buy it. otherwise take the bus. but seriously if gas goes up 20 cents a gallon, that works out to be like $45/year for me. big freakin deal. it's nothing to bitch about in my opinion. I hate when people are like "3.21 a gallon? wtf, yesterday it was 3.19 a gallon!"
\

oooohhh, that extra 20 cents a week is really gong to break the bank!

i always get a kick out of people who say it too.

cuz invariably they all spend hundreds of dollars on mods too.
and yet cant afford to put the right fuel in.

X2, I just use 91 to use it but the way gas is getting here ($3.40/gal.) I might have to down grade......but not really recomended.

And why the low MPG? Always running your car?
