Fuel Mileage

Hey Im a new guy..
I just got a left over 07 2.4 SS auto a few weeks ago, it has almost 3k miles on it now..
What kinda fuel mileage are you guys getting on the highway?
I just took a trip, running mostly between 75-85 MPH and I got 29MPG according to the monitor on the dash..
What are you guys getting around town and on the highways?

If I can drive at about 45-50 I get 32+ but most of the time 29 with my commuting to work. The faster you drive these cars the worse mileage you get. They should have come with a 6 speed manual so they would get best economy at 65MPH.

I've found.. at least according the DIC that I actually get better mileage in the 70-73 range than I do in the 65-69 range. Of course.. that's per the DIC and you can trust that if you want to.

Also, another great way to improve (at least if you're not auto tranny) is to (IMO...) turn off the cruise control. I've found relying on the cruise decreases my MPG by 3-5 at the same speed. Probably because your foot is a bit more sensitive to letting off going down an incline or not trying to maintain the same speed going up an incline.

Without cruise, averaging 72ish I can get around 32 or so.

I'm getting about 23mpg with city/highway.. Do you guy think my mileage will improve when the car gets broke in and it gets more miles on it?

I have a 07 GSXR600 and I get around 45mpg...If I take it easy on it..lol

hmmm, that's strange... I beg to differ with you darksergeant, I actually get approxmately 1 more mpg at 70ish with the cruise control set.... well, I guess unless you live near the mountians.... the cruise control sucks at maintaining speed and requiring downshifitng to slow down and stuff......... with ABS and TC, why couldn't they design a cruise control that can also engage the TC to slow the vehicle down if required, and not rely on downshifiting.....................................
anyways, back on topic.... at 60 MPH, ~33-34 mpg.... at 70 MPH, ~29-31

I do half city half highway driving and average out constantly between 28 - 32 mpg. I've put 20000 miles on it since last April and its been consistent in mpg.

If I'm just cruising at 62-65 mph on the highway, I get around 36 mpg. I get nowhere near that in town, due to low miles and spirited driving.
