Alright so bit of back story here so everyone gets this...

Went up to my gf's work to have lunch with her. Theres a guy up there that likes her. So his best friend who also works up there decided to call out my "pos cobalt" since im a car guy and to make me look like an idiot.... (keep in mind the cobalt is my dd and slowest car..) So he wanted to race me with his 300hp stock mustang motors 93 lincoln town car She told him my cars not an SS and he got even more eager to race me. So when she came home and told me all this I started laughing.


Now my question here is not if I will win because well... Cmon 190hp 4000lb brick vs a 170hp 3000lb car seems pretty simple.

So my question is.... How many car lengths head start should I give him?

Mods are : zzp shorty header,cti 3" to 2.5" catted downpipe, slp loudmouth catback,injen intake and thats it for performance.

for reference heres what ive raced and won against.
97 Civic b18b1 with a b16 trans
98 civic b18c1 with an LS trans
02 Golf 1.8t 5spd stock
Jetta GLS 1.8t 5spd with just a catback
93 Prelude H23 5spd with full exhaust and intake
02 tundra 4.7
02 seqouia 4.7
97 probe GT 5spd
99 Acura RL
05? Sentra SE-R manual (is that a 5 or 6 spd?)
etc etc etc so point is I should be nicely in the low to mid 15.5 second range


btw this is just for laughs as Im laughing my ass off that a land yacht from the 90s with rust from the back brakes covering the rear wheels.

 

if i read that right a licoln town car. and what lincoln had a 300hp motor without mods. let see 4.6L were like 240hp if i recall and the 5.0L wasent that much eather. id say even being a sport cobalt you got this. to tell you something to this day makes me laugh bought a 06 LS base and right from the dealer raced my friends 5.0 mustang 95 and its lightly modded and i beat it by a car 1/2

Its a 93 Lincoln Town car so that means 190hp 4000lbs vs 170hp 3000lbs

And I know I got this. Especially from a dig. They run in the 16's. Im just amused because he was talking **** and got even more excited to race me and beat me when he thought I was a base model cobalt


And obviously by stating 300hp in a 4.6 2 valve modular town car hes talking out of his ass. The 2 valve never even made 300hp in the Mustang the best it did was 260hp. And Ive ran dead even with an 03 GT vert auto already so even if that was the case he still doesnt have enough

I would but then Id have a 300 dollar car sitting in the driveway... Somehow I feel that might diminish the value of my cars just by sitting next to them.

Well someone told him that Id most likely beat him and that the cobalt is my slowest car so now his attitude changed to "Well I think it could be fun to race your cobalt"

Funny how that works... But from what ive seen I agree if I lost I would just be failing at life. He floored it leaving work the other day hit a puddle and still didnt lose traction in the slightest. Seemed like it took him forever to get upto the same speed as the other cars on the road (35mph )

So doubt this race will happen unless we are both leaving her work around the same time.

I know was actually kind of bummed. So i told him he'd have a better chance winning against the G/f's grand am (04 grand 3.4) but obviously in all honesty I just want to see my gf make him cry So we will see if he will do that.

I would imagine. She holds beside me to 60 pretty nicely. After that I begin to pull away at a decent pace.
