Isnt all gas 10% ethanol? I've never ever seen a gas station that wasn't. And unless your tuned for 95, it's an absolute a waste of money. Just get 91 or 93.

She's in Canada, might be different. In the states I believe you're right though. It's posted at all the gas stations I've been too. And I've never seen 95 around here.

Well here in ND not all gas has ethanol in it. We have 87 without ethanol, 90 with 10%, E30, E85 and 91 or 92 octane which doesn't have any ethanol either. I agree though unless you are tuned for 95 I think you are just wasting your money.

Is your SS a daily driver? Is it worth the extra money when you're not using it at WOT? Are you AutoX'ing.. just some things to think about.. but on the flip side, let's say you get 12 gallons of 92 octane at $3.50/gal and 95 octane is $3.90/gal.. you're paying $42 for 92, and $46.80 for 95.. $5.00 isn't really that much of a bump when you already dropped $40. (depending on fuel cost in your area)

This is true. I just don't see it being a benefit unless you're spending a lot of time in the high R's..

On a 2.4 anthing more than 89 octane is a waste as the car is setup from the factory to run on low octane. I can appreciate where you are coming from but running a higher octane fuel will not help unless you are tuned for. With gas prices getting higher I wouldnt waste your money.

Let me be bold and add this.. (correct me if I'm wrong) if you have plans to go with forced induction (turbo or super) then swapping out to E85 would be a good route.. I have a 2k Taurus that runs E85 and it's a whole dollar a gallon cheaper then regular, and not to mention using a Turbo/Super would actually get more HP when running it.. BUT, if you're NA, then don't even bother because E85 loses power. (again, correct me if I'm wrong)

2.4's are tuned to run premium (91 octane) from the factory just like stock SS/SC's. They give the same disclaimer in the 2.4's manual as they do in the SS/SC's. Premium is recommended, and although you can run 87, you will experience a slight loss in power.

Where does it say a 2.4 is tuned for 91? Maybe 89 but I doubt 91.

Not many car manufactures tune for mid grade fuel

Says right in the manual that its recommended to run 91 octane. 97 can be used but may experience slight knock.

And yea not many manufactures recommend mid grade. Though my hemi is recommended to run on 89, first time ive ever seen it recommended lol

That's weird. We don't have 95 octane where I live. Just 87 89 and 93. Pretty boring choices lol

My g/f has been running low grade for 3 years on it before I got it, and I've never had a problem with it. I put in high grade a few times in succession and I only noticed a little better mileage but nothing worth bragging about.. so is there any REAL difference..?

depending on where you live and if you get knock or not there is a difference, mainly because 87 will cause knock alot easier then 89 and so on, and altitude and air density plays a part in knock as well. running 87 in the ss/na will not harm it but it won't be running at its full potential is all.

Goddamn. I wish E85 were a full dollar cheaper than 87. It's only 40 cents a gallon cheaper than regular here. E loses economy no matter the setup, I lost 6mpg when I switched.

You will pay more and have worse mileage... hard truth
Stick with 87 and pay less and get better mileage... real truth

That's just around me near Saint Paul, super lucky but sometimes it's only like .50 or so cheaper, but every penny adds up I guess.. when you went to E did you gain HP or do you think it wasn't worth it?
