Gas Sensor
Gas Sensor
Any one have any gas sensor or gas burning problems with their 2.4?
My problem: Filling up, it stops, so I'm thinking it's full. I don't always fill up from empty so I can't determine the liters (as I know a full tank is around 45). Go start the car and the needle isn't at full. It's at the line above full. Check the km's I can get out of it, and it's around 394. Weird. As I'm driving the needle goes to full and I check the km's and it's still at 394. Turn off the car and start it again, the needle stayed the same spot but the km's went to 490.
I drove from Ottawa to Brockville and it took a half tank (or so it tells me) and that's only an 1.5hr. For half a tank I can go to Kingston if not futher than that which is 2hrs.
It's done this to me at least 4 or 5 times where it stops filling up and the needle isn't at full.
I've had a code for my fuel injectors like 2 months ago. The dealership cleared it. So the problem never got fixed. Would this link to it? I was also thinking of putting ss/sc injectors but I don't think that would make a difference or anything.

depends on alot of things. our tank is a 49L tank. how is your fuel economy (L/100km) showing on your DIC. how many km's on your car. and do you remember what the code was for your injectors.
I'll go and check what it says for the fuel economy. I've resetted it to see if it made a difference and it hasn't. I have 62k and the code was something to do with it throwing too much gas through the injectors.
Well your fuel level sensor inside the tank could be causing the problem. GM is notorious for crappy fuel level sensors, but this would have nothing to do with ACTUAL fuel economy, just perceived fuel economy since the gauge is reading incorrectly. I'm also curious to know what code you had before...
Fuel level sensor is covered under warrenty? How would they check for that?
When I went to the dealer a few weeks ago because my engine light was on, the code was for the injectors throwing too much gas in. They cleared the code instead of fixing the problem. What they wanted me to do was fill up, drive from the dealership on to the highway to another town and come back. They told me that they use that route to figure out fuel economy. I just haven't had time to do that. It's a 30min trip there and back.

9.1L/100Km is fairly normal for in city driving with the 2.4L (which i drive as well) i'm a spirited driver and i get about that. do the route that the dealer wants you to do and go from there.
