GM Warranty
So I was wondering if I got a hold of the SS/SC stock header/downpipe/cat and threw it on my 2.4SS and kept the GMPP catback would my car still be under warranty?

Any info on the size of the SS/SC header/dp/cat? If it's 2.25 or better that would be great. Is the SS/SC exhaust even bigger than the 2.4? Well here's the deal. I took the Cobalt to Chevy and they said that my intake (GMPP), manifold/dp/cat (ZZP), and catback (GMPP) ALL voided the warranty, I know that can't be true because the intake and catback are GMPP so I have no idea what to do. I also heard a little while ago that the ZZP header/dp/cat DOESNT void the warranty so I AM EXTREMELY confused. Help!

learn your rights. learn what a warranty is, and how there is no such thing as a "fully" voided warranty, or at least as applies to the majority of people here. intake does not void your warrenty. exhaust does not void your warranty. do a search you will find plenty of info about it.

it more or less would hurt your chances in fighting for them to cover the bill when and if you ever need warrenty work really. but when has any car fallen apart under warrenty? so i really wouldn't worry about it.

on your car? or did you just hear that someone had a code. it's not a big deal, you can just delete it. if you're that worried about a cel, i would suggest keeping it stock. because sooner or later you will get one.

How much worse is the GMPP Extruded Honed Manifold. I wouldn't mind throwing that on there if it keeps my sound and most of the power. As for a downpipe and cat does GM make those in GMPP or something like it? I have a friend that has one for $50 so it wouldn't be a big thing.

I know the link was posted twice however I felt it was necessary to bring this specific part of the attention of all.
"The Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act (15 U.S.C. 2302(C))
The law means that the use of an aftermarket part alone is not cause for denying the warranty. However, the law's protection does not extend to aftermarket parts in situations where such parts actually caused the damage being claimed under the warranty."

I just read the actual act and it states like you said that an aftermarket part cannot deny the warranty unless it causes a failure. In this case the CEL is the failure and all I would have to do is swap out parts to get it back to normal. So here's my next question, what is the minimum cost/labor way for me to swap either the header or dp/cat or both to make the CEL go out. Can replacing the header alone do it or can I do it with the dp/cat or do I have to do both is my question? I don't feel like bypassing it by having it removed by a tune because I did that last time and the still plugged in their device and found errors, this needs to be done a legit way. Thanks a lot for your help and F*CK warranties. lol

what about the SS/SC cat? my ZZP is full 2.5 from header to cat so is there another reason why its giving a CEL? For now I'll just throw on the stock dp/cat and put on the GMPP filter and see if it goes out. Hopefully it will.

scan the code. otherwise no one can tell you. i don't understand why people get so freaked out at first site of a cel. if the car is running ok, there's nothing to worry about.

tons of people have the lean code. make sure everything is tight, and then just delete the code. check the cat. if it looks ok, you're fine. it's nothing to worry about at all. very, very common. did you break in your cat properly?
