GMPP intake turns on Check Engine Light?

My 'balt was bone stock, 20k miles. I put the GM intake on drove it for about 200 miles no problems. Then the CEL came on. Had the code read, said it was running rich. Cleared the code and it came on again within 10 miles.

Has anyone else experienced this?

Suggestions?

TIA

Weird that its throwing a rich code. If anything it should be throwing P0171 which is a lean code.

now, did you install it, or did the dealer?........ if you installed yourself, expect backlash from the dealership and they may claim it was installed improperly and won't cover service

The only part of the GMPP intake that could cause your problem would be the MAF sensor. Did you install it upside down -- shouldn't be able to -- but....? Did you touch the inside surface? Is the connector secure? Seal in place. Take a close look at your MAF.

Did you oil the filter? Cause if it's over oiled the CEL will appear. Otherwise definaly check the MAF sensor.

Ive had the gmpp intake for over a year now with no cel. it does not require oil, it is a dry filter, so any oiling is over oiling

Thanks for the replies.

I was very careful with the MAF. Did not oil the filter.

The CEL cleared today. Don't know why.

I did make one small repair that I think is totally unrelated. There is a small rubber piece that sits on top of the transcooler/AC condenser. It was dislodged and I put it back. I changed the oil today also.

wierd huh?
