Grinding the plastic Intake Manifold?

I just read on the Inexpensive mod list "ginding or porting" the plastic IM on 2.2/4 Cobalts, first of all, was this a joke? is the plastic not already like paper thin? and if it wasn't a joke, how would I go about "porting" the plastic IM?

I wouldn't port the plastic Manifold. The walls are to thin and being plastic it's smooth anyway.

X2... On the Cav Ecotecs, some did just around the TB inlet to allow for a larger bore, but it is so much bigger already on the cobalt.
