Lightbulb has anyone thought of this?

I was at work and i was thinking if us 2.4l can get a lsj supercharger to work on our cars what about the tvs setup i know it would take a major tune and probably some serious modifactions but the lsj is making north of 300 hp so we should be able to do the same thing at least i thought it would be awesome if somebody could do it

you could but think about this.

you cant even put the TVS on an LSJ without at the very least some headwork.

its not worth it.

might as well go turbo.

that being said if supercharging is your thing then you can by all means do this. it will fit physically.

I don't understand the desire to put 300+ whp on the 2.4L, without major suspension and traction mods, of course.

you don't need head work to run the TVS on the LSJ .... It would help increase flow, but all you need to get the TVS working good on an LSJ is 60 lb/hr injectors, cooling mods (heat exchanger, dual pass kit), and a tune. Exhaust and intake mods will only further enhance the effects of the TVS blower ....

with the compression of the engine being so high to start with i think there would be some certain knock issues

^ True.

Actually the TVS runs COOLER than the eaton due to the fact you are running it within its peak efficiency range. You should still have at least the dual pass done, but you can push the same amount of boost with alot less heat and parasitic loss.

Porting the heads will definately allow you to push more air through the engine but it is definately not a requirement. Same goes for exhaust.

i think it would be crazy to have 300+ hp supercharged 2.4l probably be able to smoke all the turbo 2.4l

thats pretty much what i read about the tvs its pretty much a direct replacement for the m62 but with a staggering amout of horse power to gain i think in the lsj tech someone had a 414hp run that is insane i think im gonna save up build my motor and tranny then put the tvs on a 2.4l

maybe its bc they dont want to be beat by a car with half the motor they have and is powered through the front wheels it is kinda degrading to them

Eh.. I mean I love f/i fwd cars. Got my 3rd one now, and currently have two parked in the driveway.

However, traction is a big ******* deal. And torque steer is a severe bitch ... but for good gas mileage and good performance for the buck, you can't beat them.

My reason on the '300 whp' comment is that I believe the 2.4L loses a god bit of drivability north of 250+, plus stage 2 axles aren't cheap. Great idea for a track car, but maybe loses it's practicality as a DD a bit.

just remember at the end of the day it isn't just raw power that wins, normally b/c you can't get it to the ground. but a great power to weight ratio will when every time.
