HP Tuners CRASHED!

GODDAMNIT!!!!! I went today to get my car re-done with HPT at Performance specialits and what happened?!?!? The new HPT program crashed his lap top!! Not only that but it wouldn't let him access my car again! He had to pay to have it towed to the Chevy dealer and pay to have it flashed back stock....AGAIN!!

UGHHHHHH!!!!

I swear I just CAN NOT WIN here! Well Jeff was really cool about it and he paid for y car to be fixed no no hard feelings from me AND he wants to try it again once HPT figures out why they're newest operating version crashed his lap top like that. Jeff also found a few other cool things to change that Steve and DOC didn't! He's useing the pro soft ware so he think maybe he get to stuff they couldn't have.

Well I'll keep you all updated as to when and IF it ever gets tuned.

Ok! Heard from Jeff who heard from HPT they told him, get this, that the 2.4 uses a PCM that CAN NOT be partly flashed AT ALL! It needs to have afull re-wright of its operating tables from scratch for ANY tune you want to add.

Meaning a simple flash will not work on the 2007 2.4 Cobalts but they need to do a total dump and re-wright of the cars operating systems.

Jeff said its doable and he's gonna try it and has my cars stock settings in a backup file so if it doesn't work, I'll go back to stock.

GM changed the whole cars PCM for 2007 and it can not be flashed. Sucks huh?

So in other words you can't go back in and just change a few settings you have to do a full re-write

you have to do a full write with the 2.4s of any year... thats just the way it is since they have a seperate TCM also.

Ok didn't know it was ALL 2.4's since HPT said it was the 07 cars but that could very well be true.

And no that means that you can not go in and change just one thing, rather you need to go do a total re-wright of the whole cars operating systems. Which also means that you need to know exactly what to and how to do it or its start all over from scratch!

Jeff says he has it done and he's sure it will work fine, I'll let you all know if he's right or if the 2.4 just can't be tuned.

Here's the deal if you can't "locate the VCM" I'll add the link in a minute. But there is work around if it keeps saying to check to make sure car is in the ruin position. Have your current app key ready and delete the suite.cfg file from the hptuners program file. Only that .cfg file. Restart HPT, re-apply your app key and it will make a new, none corrupted suite.cfg file. This was a problem I had one time and it is a bug in the current software version.

we're currently working on a fix for this, but thats the quick workaround for now.

The E67 pcm thats in your vehicle probably does need a write entire performed as theres a GM issue where some E67's just won't take a calibration only write...its not a big deal, it just takes a bit longer. This is a known issue with these pcm's and is no fix. As far as comments like "you can't go back in and just change a few settings you have to do a full re-write" the only difference between a write calibration only & a write entire is a slightly longer time, nothing more.

Yep, a write-only is about 44 seconds and a write entire is about 2 minutes

I'm all about learning. I told you this car was a PITA I know the fix though, I did it every time I flashed your car. That is what sucked....I can send you the stock file, just shoot me an email addy, something that can accept something about 3mb or so.

Not 100% sure, all I know is when Jeff downloaded the latest HPT software it crashed his lap top. I guess it could have been his computer but I seriously doubt it.

GOOD NEWS!!! Jeff said he's gonna give it another try! WOO HOO! I'll let you all know.

Why do you keep trying to get a tune from either a "wanna be" tuner or someone who has no experience with HPT on the 2.4???

DOC said he didn't know it 100% but he was willing to try, no harm, no foul. Jeff is the local authorized HPT dealer in the area and he has the program and when he went to install it HPT crashed his system, not his fault at all either.

Why should I not go back to someone after their system crashed and they PAID to get my car flashed back to stock at the dealership, he also paid for the rollback to get it there. Seriously what more could he have possibly done to fix a problem caused by HPT?

IF you know of someplace better I'm all ears.

And I'd hardly call DOC a wanna be tuner.
