I Want More Horsepower....
The funny thing is what you wrote is so real. I am 19 and have been recently trying to keep up with the crowd and all that and recently thought about going SC or turbo but rethought about it and its really not worth it. Once I'm through with college I will probably have a faster car after a few years into working. I won't settle for anything less than 4 cyl turbo or SC or a V8 so I will save and keep my credit and payments clean until I can afford it. That way its fast STOCK! Woo! Though I won't be surprised if I still have the Cobalt by then lol.

Well it helps when you hear it from not only everyone around you including parents but it really sinks in when you hear it from someone who actually had it happen to them. Cars are just not that worth it at this age. Get a degree and a job and then think about cars lol. By the way ma Coby is a teeny bit quicker than your 'Clipse GT
Though my friends don't believe me, they think horsepower means everything and weight has nothing to do with the equation.

Your car runs low 14s?
DER? Just because the tube is short does not define it as not a CAI it still sucks air from outside the engine compartment. Actually it goes one better and provides a hood seal for a hood scoop. Also unlike the injen it has fewer bends which makes for less turbulant air. shorter length just makes for better throttle responce. That being said the gmpp filter sucks so i recomend replacing it with the AEM Dry flow filter part number 21-203D its washable and flows almost as good as a K&N but its not an oil filter so it won't booger up your sensor.
The GMPP intake is NOT a CAI!! Its a SRI (Short RAm Intake) There for its not a true cold air intake.. if you think about it.. the air that the intake will suck in will be hot because its still in the engine compartment...

1) its paid off and Im going to keep it forever
2) I want to learn the ins and outs of cars, mainly focusing on the performance aspect because I want to pioneer the tuner scene in water powered cars (the fuel source I hope to utilize in the new engine I hope to create)
Not to downplay the message that Adam is promoting, because that is definitely some incredible wisdom that people can learn from.
Like Adam always says, set your goals, make a plan, then spend on power. If you want to stay N/A, do all the bolt-ons and suspension mods. If you want F/I, look into your options, get that first, then look into bolt-ons.
I think cars are worth it to some people at this age. Im going to school to try and develop an alternate fuel source for cars. Im modding my car because:

I say the bold too much lol

I didn't mind the GMPP filter - does the AEM really flow that much better?
Pasa!

Ours is semi SRI and semi CAI. It's not pulling hot air from the engine compartment but its also not pulling cold air from the ground. Somehow I'm thinking of a way to mod the bumper or something to take the air hitting the front of the bumper and relocate it to the scoop inside the bumper, as of now both of my fog lights are out and I might be able to take a duct and relay the air to the scoop from the empty fog light hole. If that doesn't get enough air to the intake then I'll just forget about it.
