Chevy racing exhaust w/ the chevy Extruded Honed Manifold. I dont have any dynos or anything, I'm just going off of what the stock HP is and adding what the exhaust should be giving me. Also, a stock SS/SC has to at least work to get past me, (they do eventually ) so I know I'm not too far off, and the numbers match.

What exactly is the Extruded Honed Manifold? A header?

Just curious because I am about to add a magnaflow cat and was thinking about header also.

here check this out, it's a good site to find most of the chevy products offered for cobalts. This is a direct link to the part. http://www.crateenginedepot.com/Coba...P1381C146.aspx
Good luck, the exhaust rocks, and it sounds awesome. I have a crappy lil vid here somewhere!

you don't have anywhere near 190hp with just an exhaust... unless you're talking about at the crank... exhaust maybe adds about 8 hp or so... and there's NO bolt on that will give you about 20 hp... not even close to it... if you get exhaust, intake or air box mod, header, downpipe with high flow cat, that will probably add about 20 hp give or take...

it's a manifold that has been opened up and polished for smoother flow helps decrease any thing that will restrict exhaust flow. also he is only going by what is said 170 + + just adding up for a round about number

well, I guess since I should be around 180HP then maybe I will just wait for the 2.4L CAI, and grab that. I would like to take a look at that down pipe w/the high flow cat. Any suggestions?

So if I go with a high-flow cat, is an upgraded downpipe necessary?

it's not, but will require some welding into the stock downpipe... you'll have to have the cat cut out, and the new one welded on... if i understand correctly, the downpipe is the most restrictive part of the whole exhaust... it will help, but if you really want to make a difference get rid of the stock downpipe...

I was going to do just that- cut out the old one and weld in the new cat. I guess if I am going to go through the trouble of replacing the cat, I might as well get an upgraded downpipe. Anyone have suggestions for a good downpipe at a decent price?

so, to see what would happen, i went out and ripped that damn thing off... then i took a video of the result... go me.

if anyone cares...

It sounds great AND does add hp and increase performance.

I hate to beat a dead horse but I have track tested my car before and after install of SRI Injen.

The car ran 0.1 and 2 mph faster.

It's a small increase, yes but it is noticeable and pretty cheap.

Just do it

well first of all, joe I am gonna do just that, take out that resonator. That will give me the sound, as if I'm correct you have a stock exhaust, and it sounded pretty nice. I would imagine the exhaust I have will benefit from this as well? anyway, WSFrazier, I am near Stroubsurg PA ( I actually live in a rural area, but S-burg is the nearest major town I guess ) It's northeaster, you could mapquest it if you were more interested. That sucks though about the 150HP, but hell I love driving the car so oh well! lol

Avro, what were the density altitudes like when you gained the .1 and 2 mph?? That's quite a bit if it happened at the same D.A........
