Lightbulb Intake Fender Mod?

Okay, so I was messing around this weekend in a friend's garage, and we were up until 7 a.m... My question is at the bottom section, you can read the rest if you feel the need..

Anyway, during the reinstallation of my 23000K HIDS (while the passenger side headlight was out of my car), I started looking for ways to increase airflow to my K&N Typhoon intake because the way it is installed (Correctly), the filter is pointed away from the headlight (I know the headlight heats up the surrounding air a little), and started wondering about how I could make a custom (and more legitimate) CAI with better airflow.

So I started looking around, and removed the headlight bracket (Or whatever the [black housing/fitment] piece under the headlight is called. I started inspecting the black tube which I figured was a baffle (If that's wrong please correct me because I'm curious). Then I thought, if I can remove it, my airflow surely would be increased without the impedement of another chunk of plastic from where most of my Intake's air originates from.

Upon taking it out (I unplugged my fog lights) I found that I now had a bunch of space where it used to be. Ended up using a 10mm socket (I believe) and some titanium bladed bolt cutters.. You can ask why, but the answers going to be Because Racecar..

I guess let me skip to my question: Are there positive effects from doing this if I leave my typhoon intake 'as is'? What if I can custom fit a tube (the same size as my K&N intake) through the baffle hole, and slap my K&N back in there with a hydroguard? Would I be looking at any increased airflow? Colder air?

Note: I completely unbolted, cut, and removed the black plastic that uses 7mm or 8mm bolts (Can't remember).

If this is somewhat positive, I can post pictures and a how to, otherwise I'll just leave it. I could care less if it doesn't do anything, but I just decided to try something new before everyone starts cutting up their 'Balts, if it hasn't been done before

Yeah haha, I got a fix it ticket, then was a dick to the cop and he ended up cancelling the ticket.. I had the voicemail of him calling me to cancel it 5 minutes later he said he 'had another call', anyway they're illegal where I live, in Lawrence but I don't do night driving at KU, but not illegal at home (40 minutes away), so it's all good.. anyway, I thought that if I can extend the intake [down the baffle hole] and get extra airflow with colder air that it would have a positive effect.. Just wondering if anyone has done pulls with and without the baffle hole sealed to see whats what. I think I'm going to try dropping my intake down and see what happens, before the snow starts.
