Jet Stage II
Jet Stage II
so I decided to take a chance at a Jet Chip today....... I'm praying that I jsut got a fucked up unit........ so, I installed the unit the first time.... cranked up the cobalt and my traction control light was on.... when I drove, the car jerked violently while shifting (for those with a B+M shiftplus, imagine a stage "hell").... so, Unplugged, ran car, everything was fine........ plugged the chip back in..... begna driving.... no TC light, no CEL and the car ******* cruised ass!!........ anways, five minutes later driving down the freeway, TC light turns on and off randomly.... whenever the TC light was on, the car would lurch while upshifting..... unplugged battery and unit, waited about fifteen minutes, plugged back in........ car started fine, no lights, car hauled ass, etc, etc.... five mintues later, I get a CEL........ two codes on the upstream 02 sensor malfunctioning and system running lean....... called Jet, bitched at them, they're sending me a package so I can get it repaired or replaced................. just wanted to know if other Jet owners have had similar problems with a Jet chip, particularly a Stage II on their cobalts
There have been a few that had problems and it turned out to be a bad module.
Where did you install the module? You have an 06 so you should have 3 connectors on your ECM:

The instructions show a generic GM module that makes it look like you install it in the bottom. the engine controls are in the middle connector.
I realize it is a new and mostly unproven product, but the stage 1 module is working nicely on my 2.4L.

yea, I did install it in the center plug (only 72 pin)
I wanted a stage one, but the vendor was out of stock of them and the stage 2 was only $10 more

Actually it is a 73 pin connector, as is the bottom connector -- IAW 06 and 07 Cobalt Factory Service Manuals -- and my 07 Cobalt SS 2.4L.
The 73rd pin is in the square area.
Looking at the pins and what they control -- pins 18 and 19 (second row from bottom - yellow and purple wires) are to the vehicle speed high and low sensors. So it is probably something to do with those -- look to see if they are bent/damaged. those are the only pins to the Tranny in the second/middle connector.

i oredered a stage 2 chip from jet and the chip is ment for a 2008 and they said it would fit and they asked me what i have done to my balt (2.2L) i said kn typhoon intake 2.4 intake manifold and 2.5 cat back exsaughst but i will be getting it before the month ends ill be sure to post on what it did for me, but the reason why i got the stage 2 is because he said i have more air flow going throw so it would be bettetr then the stage 1 but ill update at the end of the month.

If it looks like the 2 side-by-side make sure they know this because if it looks like the module for the 06 and 07 2.4L it will not fit.
See how the module sticks out to the right of the connector? If you have the side by side connectors it should go in the left connector but then the right connector can't be installed.
I'm not writing this from memory or what I think it is -- I have both the 06 and 07 factory service manuals opened to the 2.4L engine controls ECM connectors and am getting the info from them. both connectors have 4 rows of pins, the bottom 2 rows have 16 each and the top 2 rows have 20 each, and the square area to the side of the bottom rows has the 73rd pin.
