So you're telling me I can't buy off-the-shelf parts to upgrade the Auto transmission for an almost 20yr old car that hardly had any in its hay-day to begin with? Woulda never guessed /s
Not tryna be rude but I asked about Dyno numbers and Longevity. Application matters too, DDing and Togue is a lot different from a couple shots down the strip. Telling me I can't buy off-the-shelf parts is kinda about as useful as telling me to sell the Ecotec n buy a "real (V8) car". I have no issue spending $$$ on custom parts.
Regardless, I think a 4t65 HD set up to work with the stock TCM would be better suited for my application so once I'm ready to go up in power or break the 4t45e, I'll be looking that way.

I definitely will, I'm just planning out my next 5 years of stuff for it lol. I've only really done the mid-rise wing and the exhaust on mine so far, wanna make sure I can actually save her from melting away to rust before I start dumping serious cash into it, my rockers are horrible but what else would you expect from a Vermont car lol.
Phase 1 will be the Rust Restoration n Engine stuff which is where that initial 15k will be going, Phase 2 is Transmission and Suspension stuff, which I have some peculiar stuff in mind for. Speaking of, anybody know if we share ball joints w/ any of the E30s or E40s? If not, more custom stuff lol.

I'm not too far from ya, I'm in Upstate NY n got some family up that way. I'm hoping the rust work won't be too expensive but it's eaten so much that I couldn't dream of using the spare tire jack to lift it. Fabricating some stuff and the mechanical/electrical stuff I can do but I definitely need a professional for the body work. I figure it'll probably eat ~10k$ of the Phase 1 budget for rust work, repaint w/ PPF, and a custom carpet using surplus boat carpet

Yeah I’m telling you there’s no stronger parts for it. I’ve had mine and been in this community for 14 years. My car is currently the fastest automatic cobalt out there. Also, the 4t65 isn’t going to work. Just fyi. I was looking at doing it years ago and found out it would cost 10k+ to custom fab parts to make it work.

So is it not gonna work or is it just gonna cost a lot to get it to work? Not really sure what your 14 years and Fastest Auto Cobalt That You Know of has to do with me wanting to know specifics of what, how, and why of things breaking in the 4t45e transmission.

Because I’ve been around long enough to know there’s no upgraded parts for these transmissions. I’ve done a **** ton of research because I was wanting to build mine.

Just because I can't buy something premade doesn't mean I can't have something custom fabricated. If I have to learn to make the parts myself then that's what I'll do. Yes, that might take a lot of time and money but if that's what it takes to build it how I want then so be it.
