Hello everyone! My first car ever was a 06 Cobalt LT and I fell in love with them. Fast forward 8 years and I finally have a 06 Cobalt SS LE5. Bought it for $1700 and drove it up Pikes Peak 2 weeks later. It’s fun but now that I live right down the road from COTA, I wanna build it. Now to the real reason I’m posting.
I am wanting 400-450 whp. I’m thinking turbo but I don’t know what individual parts I’ll need besides the obvious (forged rotating assembly). So really what gen block do I need to handle that power, turbo, and any other upgrades needed?
The car will be a weekend car that sees the track a couple times a year but when it is driven, it’ll be pushed hard.
ZZP has a block for it. You would need E-85 to hit the 400 mark.
ZZP just built mine, I wanted to hit 400 on 93. Unfortunately got 384 whp on their mustang dyno.
Exhaust was been restrictive. So had to get the ZZP exhaust with just muffler, I didn't want straight pipe.
Also, this could be a tactic to pay for more parts as we all know.
Main things you would need is pistons and rods. I blew my engine and the rod was the one that gave away, or better yet blew up into a million pieces lol. Block wise, I have read that any LE5 block should be able to hold 400hp. In any case, you can get better sleeves. Not sure if there is people making them.
