what would it take for the car to hit limp mode? just wondering

could be a senser gone bad thats what put my car into limp mode once

 

would lets say hitting boost untuned for a short period of time cause this?

 

possible...mostly ive seen it happen when the car is under major load for example...when my cams were mistimed everytime i hit a hill and tried to drive up a minor ascent (not even a hard climb) it would go into limp mode...ive seen people run pig rich and go into limp mode randomly...


if u dont have ur throttle sensor plugged in i know u will go in limp mode...just cases ive seen other than that haha idk

 

 

if the car has a theftlock malfunction while the engine is running, engine power is reduced in all gears. happened to me a few times. you will know because the theftlock symbol is on.

 

what does it take to get out of limp mode

depends on how bad the limp mode is...when mine was mistimed..i just shut it off and waited 2 mins and restarted...the tps one had to be fixed before car would come out and the running rich the battery needed to be pulled and then put back in

 

you mean unhooked? will the car still move in limp mode

 

yea i think 40 is the fastest u can go?! and yes it wasnt clipped in all the way

 

My buddy's GLI went into limp mode shortly after we had just installed a turbo-back exhaust.... What ended up causing it to go into limp mode was actually a screw on the waste-gate that loosened and caused the wast-gate not to build up the back pressure... He had to drive it for a weekend w out any boost... but it ran fine... just w out boost...

 

I was in limp mode when i was running too lean, once my MAF went over 12, check engine light came and limp mode was on.
