Wow is right. Did you just have the exhaust side done? Does he flow test the head?

That looks really damn good. I think the ported head is going to produce big gains for us.

Euthanasia says never mind the background music, lol

He did both intake and exhaust, doubt he flow tests mine but his track record is good and I'll bet the gains are noticeable.

Waiting on stem seals, then delivery. Major surgery between xmas and the new year

Ha no doubt. Did you have larger valves put in this head too?

I just got the HHR up and running on e85. It pulls like its pissed off! Also maxed out the 60s as people were saying. I hit high 90s for IDC. I am going to do another dyno for ***** and giggles within the next week. Just have to finish the tune. I didn't add any timing yet. Having idle surging like crazy, totally baffled. The gas tune idled great.

No...if Jr. doesn't get that head shipped very very soon it may well all get installed in late spring...xmas season isn't a good time to ship things at the last minute. My CED order is also late, 9 days and not even @ customs yet. My pistons are done, off to get coated, if everything arrives before xmas I'll be relieved.

Waiting is the hardest part

Ha. I have another 4 weeks from Monday for the pistons then.

I may go with the Exedy Flywheel and a Spec 3/+ clutch. I am unsure if I want to get the ZZP kit. My car is about 400lbs heavier than the Cobalt. The Fidanza in the ZZP kit is supposed to be 8.5 and the Exedy is 10.5, but either way I think they are both a far cry from the 21lb stocker. I wonder if I'd even notice. Not to mention the Exedy/Spec combo would be about $300 less, but still appears to be a good set up.

Just be careful going on price, That's why I went SC over Turbo to 'save' a few hundred...uh huh.

2 lbs, I feel the pain. It bugs me the SC ATI balancer is so much heavier than the turbo version.

I doubt any difference would be felt, and some pretty sharp posters here have said as much.

I did the SC kit because I thought I just wanted to be "a little faster". I didn't even know they made a whining noise. And now here I am building a damn motor so I don't pop it...Yeah I have purchased a few parts that I have replaced immediately try to cut corners...This Exedy 2 clutch holds great but it engages super harsh and the pedal pressure is very hard(bought it since is was the cheapest upgrade). The Spec sounds like a better setup and higher capacity...the ZZP really good too though with the larger diameter friction surface. Can't wait to get rid of this clutch.

If I knew then what I know now...LOL ha I'd be first inline for the ZL1 Camaro and the HHR would be stock.

Man. I have 4k miles on the tires I got this summer and didn't rotate them yet...yeah they are missing about 5mm already...Burnouts are less fun when I associate them with $ signs. I can still barely read the Hankook label in the tread on the rear tires and its only about .05mm deep...I am not going to rotate though cause I am eying up some tacky rubber for the front...I am on Hankook Ventus V12 and I am hoping to replace them with the Ventus RS3 in 235. The V12s in 225 were breaking free periodically this summer and if thats the case I will be pissed trying to pull 2nd after the added power. I don't have much rubber left on my winter wheels either...glad it hasn't snowed yet, which is crazy for Southern WI this time of year.

Head is not completed, pistons are not here, looking like a spring install...may as well slap in one of those ZZP 4T45E trannys while I'm at it.

We'll see if all your investments will be justified, I just put #82 otherwise I'll had your exact setup on stock Internals.

I had to push the dyno to next week since my car was crap I got it all figured out now...as you know I just hope the weather is good so I can make 2 or 3 WOT tunes to test. I am going to do .77(lower if I can) and .84 lambda pulls at the dyno. I want to go lower than .77, but my 60s are already at 105% IDC and look to be leaning out up top. At .84 they are only 90% IDC. The reason I am mentioning this is because some guys say .85 is good and others say .72 is good for power on e85. I feel like the car pulls noticeably harder at .77 than .84, but the 60s barely keep up after 6800rpms @ .77

Hopefully early next week I will have some numbers.

Still time...One more week of people doing actual work, at work, and shipments before everyone slacks off and enjoys the last week of the year. I've got my fingers crossed for you.

I didn't even get to order my pistons this week since my tuning troubles interrupted. Monday it is.

Well my valve removal thingy arrived, works as advertised. The new LNF head has now been raped and plundered, the inconel sodium filled exhaust valves are sweet looking, excited to have all new components to use with the ported head. CED order also arrived, rod bearings, cam and crank bolts, timing chain tensioner. Pistons are shipped, not likely to arrive by xmas but I no longer care, I'll do the tranny as well and thus only drop the subframe once.

I am not making it to the dyno as the holidays have arrived and I have other stuff going on. Looks like I will have to wait till after the build. I haven't ordered anything yet, though its in the works. I am about to pull the trigger on everything. Might just give ZZP all my business.

I am just torn on the flywheel. I want the performance of the lighter flywheel, but I don't know how I am going to like a 9lb flywheel on a 3200lb car. So its either ZZP kit or stock flywheel/spec stage 3+

Sent my tune, appropriately named hhr evolution as it is mostly pilfered off of yours lol. IIRC I did make some changes aside from the etc scalar when I reverted to the LSJ TB.

I'd give ZZP the whole lot, I was in a rush (or thought I was) otherwise they'd be supplying the JE slugs at stock ratio.

Just married the HHR. JE 9.0 pistons, zzp rods, zzp stage 2 clutch. I didnt want to raise the compression so i am taking a loss in hp with 9.0. Hopefully i can make a lot of that back with timing and leaner afr.

Tim said the order will probably go out tomorrow, but I am not in a hurry since I was planning on waiting for pistons anyway. I still won't get the install underway until late January/Feb. I just hope I made the right choice on the lower compression. Well, the dyno will tell me that I guess. Oh well, I gather it would be no more than 10whp after timing/afr adjustments.

Got some arp studs, OE head gasket, arp flywheel bolts, a 2.7" pulley and Tim flowed some 80# injectors for me as well. Had to get a front cover gasket too. Mine has been leaking slowly for a while now.

Will pick up a few more odds n ends in the mean time.

Dang they shipped that stuff out fast! It left ZZP last night at 9pm and arrives 13 hours later(its only a 6 hour drive to ZZP for me though) It just arrived at work, but the sad thing is I am traveling so I will be thinking about my damn parts for the next 4 days til I get back home.

LOL my boss knows I am jacked and sent me a pic:

Merry xmas to me.

Did your goods make it?

Without rings or retainer clip, but otherwise what I'll be running:

Haven't heard squat from Jr. which is strange. Weather here is unbelievably mild, would have been an excellent time to do all this and next week is supposed to set some records for warm weather...watch this spring I'll get 4 days of pouring rain when I finally get this done.

Just opened a stocking stuffer, my gift from the snap-on distributor (father in law):

7/16-20 fits the ARP head studs perfectly.
