Max Increased Redline 2.4l?????????

What is the max safe rpm we can push the redline to on stock internals iam thinking 7k

and would increasing completly change the hp/tq curve or just continue to grow as if the stock were 7k?????

I had my old 5 speed set at 7200rpm. It did not make it any faster. The hp peaks and goes down before that.

some folks in here apparently run at 7200rpm and claim no problems but i would rather be safe then sorry

so 7000k FTW??

oOooOo and is a 7000k rpm redline attainable on stock injectors??

Probly not, you'd need to 2.0 ones.

And a 50 rpm cushion is just plain stupid! I've floated valves into pistons before and its cost me the engine.

So i suppose 7k is plenty cushion??? being as i stunt in my car alot of the drifting a donut slide tricks rely off bouncing of the rev limiter iam just making sure iam really safe ......

Iam sure that must have been a pain and would much rather avoid that

A 250 rpm cushion is still close but its better then only 50! Remember with age and milage the springs WILL get weaker. 50 rpm's with weak springs doesn't sound like such a good idea now does it?

well me and tom uped mine to 7100 and its ok but its alittle to high. id say 7k is plenty why i say that is because with our power. the max power peaks at about 6800 and when the rpm gets to 7k the power is already going down. i had it dynoed but they only took it up to 6800 but my redline is about 7100 so if anyone is doing the rpm thing 7k is plenty. and for the speed goes for 2.4s crank that speed limiter up to 145. even though stock tires are only rated for 135 and after 125 the car kinda hangs in 5th gear till i get some more power it should be running great.

Just curious.... How do you know that the valves floated at 7,250?

FYI, the LE5 in most applications is set to 6,750. The only exception I've seen is that in the Solstice the factory sets it to 7,000. It would be interesting to research and see if there's a difference in the valve springs, which are pretty much the limiting factor in this range.

no look on your tach. the stock 2.4s factory redline is 6850.

ryan. and if you got a head job those nice new cams and valves would be good to 8k

Thats what I was told by the guy who did the tuning on my car. He has done quite a few 2.4's but since he's in freekin Arizona and can only send me a caned tune and NO ONE around me seems to be able to figure out how to adjust the God damn MAF tables I no longer run it.

Not ranting at you dood I just get pissed over my messed up tune. I tried for months to get it to work right and I never could.

That and I think I read someplace they float at 7250. Can't remember where tho so I guess that doesn't help any.

OK, technically the "redline" is nothing more than a red line on the tach.

The wall you hit is the factory calibration, which is a fuel cutoff, which is set to 6,750.

raising th rev limiter that high on stock injectors is kinda pointless without injectors in. i did it on my car and yes it shifted nice but gm maxes out the stockers at 98idc% at like 6500rpm, so its not even really worth it. get the injectors in..

One of these days you guys will learn about tuning and not guessing....

On stock injectors: 7,100 RPMs, 78% IDC @ 12.8 AFR.

Get the tune right and most of you will have no need for the larger injectors, nor gain a single HP with 'em.

Same LE5 engine; same E67 ECM; extremely minor differences between the factory tunes.

Hey, the HHR is just a good lookin' Cobalt wagon!!

I've been working w/ HPTuners Pro for some time now.

Vector has mine set at 7k w/ stock injectors. I e-mailed them asking about the IDC% and if it would be wise for bigger injectors and they said no there is no need as they aren't high enough to need them.
