motor mounts help?

I noticed a few people have motor mounts. I mean i know they prevent the engien from shifting as much. does it really make my car faster? how much do you think they would make it any faster. and does anyone know where I can get my hands on some?

You can get mounts from cobalt addiction. They have inserts and full replacements. You won't gain hp. But you'll put more of what you have now to the ground where it counts. Plus reduce wheel hop. I'd start with the inserts since they're cheap and a buddy did them on his ss/sc and said it help alot.

Motor mounts (or inserts) are some of the best performance related mod you can pick. They're meant to shut down engine vibrations to get more power to the ground. MM inserts are usually an easy choice for most based on price and ease of installation. I originally bought a set of ESMMs (for $25) but decided to upgrade to full motor mounts instead. Downside with both inserts and full mounts are cabin vibrations. Don;t be surprised if you feel more vibrations in the cabin than you were without them.

Since you don't seem to be making more than average power, I'd suggest finding a cheap set of brand new inserts and see how you feel about those first. Once you start tearing up engine mounts (like this guy), then you'll know it's time for a full set of mounts.

A torque damper could also be a viable option for you as well.

I believe that Ingalls makes a torque damper for the Cobalt as well.
Something you may want to look into as well. More expensive than inserts but still way cheaper than full replacement mounts.

For a cobalt? I couldn't tell you that. That's where the search button comes in.
I'm just speaking from personal experience. I know I paid $285 for 3 of the 4 mounts that hold my engine/tranny in place. As far as I can tell it doesn't seem the front is needed as much as the others are but I may pick one up eventually anyway. I've run out of performance mods...
