Need Details for Engine swap

Might try to find a 2.4 in a junkyard or hit CED up for the part and add it

From what I have seen in HPT there isn't the option to reclock missing tooth timing events. I remember looking into this years ago to determine the feasibility of reutilizing a stock ECU for a small engine application. HPT does not give you the control a custom ECU and its corresponding software does ie. PE, Mega/Microsquirt, and Mototune. This is a tricky situation to attack, me personally I would design a small microcontroller to interrupt the sensors signal and either anticipate or delay the signal based upon what the ECU wants to see. This leaves some room for error based off of engine acceleration and deceleration within the 30* window. The error would be worst at start up (quick engine accel). The only other option I can think of is possibly flashing the ecu's hex value via bit banging. However one screw up doing this will result in a nice paperweight. Either way I am interested in the project and to see your course of action.

Best of Luck!

I have the cam reluctor figured out i think as i can flash the operating system from the 2.4 on to my car no problem. And that part is in the software i flashed so im assuming thats okay now. My biggest issue now is that when i put on the 2008 le5 manual cobalt file, my car wont crank.

Okay so i just wanted to post this for anyone that wants to do this swap.
If you dont care about vvt, this engine is plug and play pretty much. This requires leaving the cam sensor unplugged because the reluctor is clocked differently. Only issue here is that the car takes a lot longer to start but does start everytime. Hptune is a good idea because of displaement change.

If you want to use an le5 in an 07 car and use the 2.4 os with correct reluctor clocking, you must use an 08 le5 file as the 06-07 Le5 uses the e67 ecm, and the 08+ Le5 uses the e37 ecm. For an 07, i believe this will require you to add the three wire plutch pedal position sensor and wire it into the ecu. I did get the scan tool to read that the clutch was applied by tricking the ecu with a potentiometer, but i didnt realize i fried my ecu in the process of hooking it up so it never actually started like this. I think that would be all you need though, then you would just have to wire in the vvt solenoids and exhaust cam sensor. Then you would be able to use the stock tune or hptune.

Another option, i might go this route eventually, is to press off the recultors for the cam sensors and reclock them, then enable the vvt in the ecu(stock 07 file has this capability in hpt). Ill still have to wire in the solenoids and exhaust cam sensor though.
