If it's not illegal to remove the cat, there are companies that sell "cheater" O2 sensors to fool the ECM into thinking the cat is still there so it won't set a MIL. Chances are the intake system and the rest of your exhaust is far more restrictive than the cat though.

Heh, offtopic but if you think yours is loud, try one with a screamer pipe.

Exactly. Hell.. My dream system on my car would sound just like a stock M3. Nice-n-deep at idle, with just a little bark when you rev it. Nothing insane. BMW's to me just sound like sex.

Haha word. To each their own. I used to drive an '88 RX-7 vert that was even louder than my SS.......I dunno, me and my friends have always been into loud cars.....and we just never outgrew it. But I always have and always will love a loud, obnoxious car.

Well, being cat-less........plus the ARK N2, along with the Megan, are known as being the loudest cat-backs out there for Cobalts. Throw in the CA header.......and it made for a very loud setup. I didn't plan it that way (for it to be super loud that is).......it just turned out that way.

Its illegal to remove/alter a working cat from a car or truck. I know that NJ requires a cat or else you won't pass inspection.

it's just a spacer that allows the sensor to be out of the direct path of the exhaust.

Umm Canada is no different, a cat is required to pass an MVI because of emisions standards. And a check engine light on also fails MVI, so you can't just hollow out the cat and leave it on cause the CEL will give it away.

And what exactly is this anti-fouler trick supose to do for you?

As I stated before, there is a company(i don't know who) that sells a cheater O2 sensor that will send the proper value to the ecm to make it think the cat is there and operating properly. I knew someone who was running a Mustang with no cats who installed these and it allowed the car to pass an emissions test in a state where they only plug into the diagnostic port to check for dtc's and i/m flags. Visual and/or "sniffer" tests may be a different story.
