Octane

What fuel map would the cobalt 2.4L use if I used 89 octane???

also would mileage be the same as 91? :S

What year 2.4?

For the sake of contributing something to your thread, if it were a 2.0 it would juggle between the High and Low octane tables as knock is detected.

It will always start out on the high octane map. The computer doesn't know whats in the tank
As soon as there is knock detected, it will pull back timing and drop to the low map.

On 89, it is likely on the low map most of the time.....not likely going to break anything but why give up hp for the sake of what? Less than dollar a tank savings over 91?
