Octane Fill Up

So our cars need 91 at least. There is a station around me that sells something like 105 or 110. If I were to put that in this motor what kind of consquesnces/rewards would there be? Really just a hypothetical question because im not paying something like 8 bucks a gallon.

u get higher octane levels which allows u to tune for more timing..u dont get no benifits without tuning.. no draw backs except it cost so much

you'll have some nice weight reduction there's zero need to go any higher octane unless you're tuned for it, like above. it's an old ricer myth that just using a higher octane will give you more power.

First off make sure it's not leaded.
Second the benifit is lower chance of detonation which I can tell you with just a 2.9 on Stg II tune I've seen upwards Knock retard of 7 degrees in a third gear pull so that power your losing and I run 93 octane since the day I bought it.

Thats the only benifit with out a tune.

why do you feel basehd, there's no bashing at all in this thread.

it's a very common myth, so don't feel bad about asking.

my 08 cobalt sport car manual suggests 93 octane. But It's fine if I use 87 instead correct? it's not going to harm the engine in any way right? or should I use 89

use what's suggested. depending on your area it's only a 1-3 dollar difference per fillup.

If it suggests that you use 93, then you should use 93.

you can't hurt an engine with to much octane, but you can hurt it with too little. just pay the extra couple of bucks.

93 is the only option around me.

87-89-93

93 is all I'd use anyhow.

WHAT?? thers no way they would suggest 93 octane... Its not high peformance or anything..... Are you sure thats what it says because there is no need.... the onluy reason i can see why they would suddenly change it from 91 to 93 is the fact that it is more environmentally friendly.. And less pollution...

CURSE THESE STUPID GAS PRICES!!!!!!!!!! 3.53? FOR PREMIUM 93 HERE! GRRRRRRRRR horray for hess station on rt 9 for being the lowest gas prices in nj that i go to! http://img182.imageshack.us/img182/2...34largebt4.jpg hahaha

i paid 32for almost a whole tank of 93...(a fraction under 11 gallons)

gas prices don't really bother me...considering im going to this from a 2003 ram 1500 that gets 13mpg with a 34 gallon tank...

105 and 110 could be leaded so you BETTER make sure its not. As for running that kind of octain I'd hope your running 12 to 1 compression or better if not your wasting your money.

Leaded gas is only in high HIGH octain race fuels as it resists detonation even better and the led helps lubricate the vales and rings. You don't have anything to worry about unless your looking at this realhigh stuff like he is.
