Please help!!!!!
Please help!!!!!
I fucked something up on a really simple maintenance job and i cant figure it out. Please help!!! i removed my air filter for cleaning and decided to clean the throttle body as well. i unbolted the throttle body and disconnected the wire harness and started cleaning it with solution and paper towels. i then went to hook everything back up (install filter, MAF sensor, throttle body and wire harness). i go to start my car and now its idling at 2500-rpm!!! i checked and rechecked everything to make sure everything was hooked up properly and it is. i was told maybe i broke the motor (electronic throttle body) when i was moving the flap while cleaning, or the sensor went bad. ANY IDEAS???????
already disconnected the battery and waited. that cleared the service engine light. and i made sure not to get any solution on the sensors or the harness plug. i used brake cleaner. used it before on other cars and no problem.
positive. pretty sure there is no vacuum leaks but its kind of hard to hear with the motor idling that high. thought it was the gasket but then i realized the gasket is recessed slightly and part of the tube underneath the TB.
il try to take and post pics sunday night. i dont think i missed anything but who knows.

why are you using brake cleaner on electronics?
just go back over everything you did step by step and make sure everything is hooked up and installed the way it should be. simplest solution.

To check for vacuum leaks its as simple as spraying brake clean on the areas you may think have a leaks if there is a leak your idle will change noticeably. as for getting a reflash that is near imposable you f'd up you PCM by cleaning your TB. Check all conectors you removed to make sure you didnt bend pins. and yes disconnecting your battery and touching the cable leads together is exactly what you should to do to clear the codes quickly. Any retard knows that if you jump the posts on the battery thats a bad thing. im sure thats not what he meant. Chances are you did not plug a sensor in all the way or bent a pin. Easy fix just take your time.
He wasn't saying jump the battery terminals together. Take the battery out of the picture for a second. Just connecting the positive and negative wires coming from the car itsself will close the circuit and drain any other sources of power (capacitors that are also in the system).
