radiator fan prob

hey guys
Can anyone help me with a problem? For the last couple weeks my radiator fan has been coming on from a cold start, and it turns on and off very frequently even when the temp is low, and then this morning the fan came on and never turned off for my whole trip to work (1 hr) and the check engine light is on. Also the digital temp gauge is not displaying any temperature, it only displays dashes. What can be the problem? Could it be the thermostat or a sensor? Any input would be appreciated thank you.

If the display is not showing any temp and the fan is running all the time, the temp sensor is gone south.
If in warranty, take it in. Don't wait too long, the engine will be running in a degraded mode with no temperature information, likely see poor performance / mileage until it is fixed.

yup, sensor is gone, so as a precaution ur car runs its fans the whole time. Normal, and good hing for it to do.

take it to the dealer,

as far as it being bad for the car idk. the IAT and MAF sensor are still still good, just the outside air temp. ur car should still be runing fine.

its tht little black ball thing by ur wiper BTW... thts the sensor were talking about

thanks a lot guys, that helps a lot because I thought at first it was the thermostat. Do you by any chance know what the sensor is called?

What?

The Engine coolant temp sensor screws into the water crossover pipe at the back of the engine.

And the Ambient Temperature sensor, is located under the left headlight.

So its definitely the Engine coolant temp sensor? How much am I looking to get that part replace? My warranty is up and I'm thinking of doing it myself if it's not too difficult.

Is the coolant temp sensor anywhere near the thermostat, or is it back further than that?
