short shifter options

i know that the twm shifter is a choice for us 2.4 guys but are there any others out there for us. i know the hurst is for the 2.0 only but i looked at the b&m shifter and it says its for the 05+ ss/redline, but doesnt specify whether or not its for a sc or not. anybody know?

B&M is also SS/SC only. The only shifter that's a direct bolt-on for a 2.4 is TWM.

who cares when you can get the TWM!!! My roomate, who has an STi, only wishes that TWM made a shifter for his car, as TWM only makes them for the standard WRX (non-STi) models. TWM is top notch

Hell yes they are!! I have one and it is the shiznit! Im soooo glad i bought it off my friend, brand new in the box for 100. Find one and buy it! They rule, plus the large aluminum knob that comes with it just makes the experience so much smoother, not to mention the company went so far as to add new bushings for the entire shifter assembly so it sits firmer.

I think it is. I bought mine from someone who already bought it. I think they run for about 145-150.

yeah, the extra bushings were def. a plus that I haven't seen many shifter brands include. I bought mine from TWM's website, and i'm not sure if anyone else distributes them, though I would imagine you can get them elsewhere, as TWM is a very large company, much like B&M or Hurst.

The shifter has nothing to due with da parts and it was sold to me like dat and i have a hard time getting the key out because alot of the times its not all da way in park. the ribbon is all wrinkle up and i was told that it was a common problem in da cobalts...should dis be under warranty or i have to paid for which deir charging me 213 dollars at a chevy service at a dealership???

The Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act (15 U.S.C. 2302(C))

This federal law regulates warranties for the protection of consumers. The essence of the law concerning aftermarket auto parts is that a vehicle manufacturer may not condition a written or implied warranty on the consumers using parts or services which are identified by brand, trade, or corporate name (such as the vehicle maker's brand) unless the parts or service are provided free of charge. The law means that the use of an aftermarket part alone is not cause for denying the warranty. However, the law's protection does not extend to aftermarket parts in situations where such parts actually caused the damage being claimed under the warranty. Further, consumers are advised to be aware of any specific terms or conditions stated in the warranty which may result in its being voided. The law states in relevant part:

“No warrantor of a consumer product may condition his written or implied warranty of such product on the consumers using, in connection with such product, any article or service (other than article or service provided without charge under the terms of the warranty) which is identified by brand, trade or corporate name...” (15 U.S.C. 2302(C)).

do not let them make you pay

Jimmy my boy, first type so I can understand you. Sorry, but now thats out of the way, you bought a 2.4L AUTOMATIC Cobalt SS with a broken shifter? Well, theres the mistake, its an automatic. As for the shifter getting fixed, they cant void your warranty. Print a copy of the Magnuson-Moss Act (full thing of course) and take that with you. Make sure you know enough to make a convincing argument. IE: The fact that an aftermarket intake and exhaust has nothing to do with the warranty on your car, AND they cant void those parts of the warranty until they PROVE those parts caused the failure. If they try and say you signed away that right in the contract, then the contract is ILLEGAL and therefore has no point, because the Magnuson-Moss Act does not allow those contracts to exist (or at least exist legally). Correct me if I am wrong, anyone please. I just want to make sure the info is right

Your absolutely correct. The Magnuson-Moss Act is a federal thing. No company can make a contract that voids it. Itd be like us saying "You can sign this contract, then legaly kill people who also sign the contract".........it just doesnt happen.

As for the TWM Short Shifter: http://www.tntautosport.com/store/in...roducts_id=157
