SS/SC Downpipe

I was lkooking foir a downpipe and headers and i saw a thread saying that the SS/SC Downpipe was bigger than the 2.4l at 2.5", and gives decents gains to the 2.4l. I was looking at an aftermarket downpipe but if this info is true im thinkning ill jsut go with a stock SS/SC downpipe. any advice would be greatly appreciated.

DPs are the same between the 2.0 and 06/07 2.4. I'll get PN in the morning...not now.

UPDATE: Looked in the parts data base and discovered I'm wrong...

Downpipe/cat assy:

07 LSJ PN 15873413
07 LE5 PN 22695582 (manual trans)
07 LE5 PN 22703215 (auto trans)

08 LNF PN 25816005
08 LE5 PN 15889903 (manual trans) (typo-corrected)
08 LE5 PN 15889904 (auto trans)

Last edited by Red07SSNA; Oct 2, 2008 at 09:43 AM. Reason: Correct PN for manual equipped LE5

so for an 08 LE5 would we would want the 07 LS7 DP correct the LNF wont work due to the turbo correct?

i wonder if this will provide any gains over the stock 2.4 DP

if there's any gains at all, it's going to be very minimal. you're better off getting aftermarket. double check your car before you order anything, many of the stock parts don't match up from one year to another, or even one car to another. check where the 02 sensors are especially.

Having not messed with an 08 2.4 I'm guessing here: Yes, I would expect the 07 LSJ downpipe to fit considering the manifolds are the same as are the cat-back exhaust systems.

Concerning any performance gains: If anyone out there can measure the inside diameter of an LSJ downpipe please let everyone know the size. It is possible that the LSJ and LE5 downpipe have the same inside diameter -- the LSJ might be a different part number for another reason just as there are 2 part numbers for the LE5 due to the tranny!

u can only change so much on a stock downpipe for emissions...as stated 05/06 used same downpipe between 2.4 and 2.0. the different in 07 and 08 some models have the 2 o2 bungs on the downpipe and not having one on the header...this would be the big different between some downpipes..other than that..they are quite similar

2.2`s have the smallest downpipe... 1.75'' or something.

There is a thread with pictures of all three, I will try to find it and post it here later

2.2's have a smaller DP, I am 100% positive on this
I just need to find the pictures and you'll see

here you go:

doesn't look much like the same diameter to me

I'll talk to the guy and ask him to measure it.

the 2.0L DP is a 2.5''
and a buddy of mine just confirmed to me that the 2.4L DP is 2.25''

So recap:

2.0L = 2.5'' DP
2.4L = 2.25'' DP
2.2L = ? '' DP (small...)

just buy a 2.5" lsj downpipe, buy a magnaflow high flow cat, and go to an exhaust shop to swap cats.

no point in spending 200-300 dollars on something that should cost you no more than 100-150 dollars.

if you wanna go cheap, just gut the stock cat on the LSJ dp, so that it looks like you still have the cat, but gain the performance aspect...
