Supercharging the 2.4?
Has anyone attempted this task yet? Not sure if the M62 could be fitted on this motor, the results could be great? Any planned stage upgrades or kits from GM, im a total newb on the 2.4 eco stuff

Theres only one other thread with it mentioned
so it only works if theres info out there
anyways back on topic, I know all about the 2.4 cavs, those are worthless LD9s with a equally worthless M45, been on jbo for almost 5 years
So is the Hahn Turbo the only real boost kit out there, I havent seen any others

When I first got my 2.4L I wondered the same thing about a S/C!! I guess its the high compresion ratio that comes into play and the S/C will be to much work and cost to bother with
Soo here we wait and dream about the turbo
, I just don't like turbos myself, not too mention that turbo's going to cost alot at first anyways soo love your Cobalt the way it is maybe? It does have alot of pwoer and potential
...
And hey G5Mike, wtf do you live on this site man???

Id rather have a supercharger even if its more work than a turbo, the only thing stopping me from running out and getting a G5 right now is that theres no boost option
the supercharger would bolt on if you had all the parts but you will need hp tuners to tune for it, the compression isnt all that high just make sure its all stock no small pulleys or anything since we dont need them.

You'd need (at a minimum), the LSJ intake manifold, the m62 supercharger, new belt, new injectors, plumbing and a pump for the air-water IC system, heat exchanger, new intake, bypass valve. You might need extra pulleys to route the belt to the s/c, and you might need a new throttle body or an adapter to fit the 2.4L's throttle body to the s/c (I'm not sure if they are the same size). You need to remove the washer fluid tank and relocate it to the opposite side of the engine bay. Of course, as with any f/i setup, you'd need to install all the proper gauges to monitor the system: boost, wideband a/f, anything else you'd want to monitor (ie. EGT, maybe an interceptor). And there's probably more that you'd find once you dug in and started doing it. It's certainly not an easy "bolt-on" application.
Don't forget, you need to have the tuning as Celicacobalt mentioned. So far, I haven't heard of one single 2.4L Cobalt/Ion tuned for boost other than Hahn's prototype for their turbo kit.

I simply meant it's not like you can buy some parts and bolt them in... you have a lot of work to do.
And to RodimusPrime... that's a different PCM. Totally different story.
Centrifugal S/C yes.. I have.. but only on an engine dyno so far.
But the 2.2L S/C kit out on the market would work just fine also.
It takes some tuning, but the right centrifugal S/C running 6 psi non-intercooled is possible with little effort.
