TC & SS
TC & SS
these cars look identical as in mechanical. the engines both 2.4. i'm surprised scion would put such a large 4 cylinder in their car. quick question though, anyone know the compression ratio of the ss 2.4? and... you guys think the 2 would run even?
give me your opinion.
any input on these 2 cars would be great.
thanks

i would go tc, so much stuff out for it its rediculous. awsome car too. interior is nice, imo better than the cobalt. just my opinion. but intior wouldnt stop me in getting the ss s/c. lol
hmmm, now i'm actually considering an import now. no offense, my familly is just a chevy family and we never had anything else. kind of a tradition.
what about the mazda 3 guys?
thanks

i'd take th e mazda 3 over both, minus the ss s/c. handling is awsome on that car, very quiet and refined, interior quality, imo mazda has the nicest aside from european cars. but between honda, nissan, mazda. mazda has the nicest. its as good imo as toyota.
the svt has variable valve timing (zetec)
but yes based on the actual power output of the SS/SC, i would say the 2.4 has maybe 180@the wheels if not closer to 195
A tuned 2.4 would be sweet esp. if they have all the SS/SC upgrades in the block(oil cooler, piston oil jet, sodium filled valves, etc.) if supercharged would be close to 300 out of the box

but yeah i think i'm definitly going to get the cobalt ss 2.4. sounds sweet.
i'm gunna keep it mostly stock maybe an intake, ignition and muffler tip (i hate the loud ass cars, they give me head achs) I dont think putting a exhaust sytem on 4 bangers is worth it, unless u want ur car to sound like an airplane. its going to be the nicest car ever, just nice and clean.
thanks for the tc input, i feel more confident with chevy now!
later
JapEtr...only the svt focus had VVT....ZETEC does not mean it has VVT. It's just simply the name of the engine ( i should know. I just traded in my '03 svt focus a week ago for SS, and I know EVERYTHING about the svt focus).
the ss 2.4 will most likely only have 173hp maybe 175hp thats it not at the wheels. they wont make it like the ss s/c and give it close numbers.. as far as the 2.0L focus svt having 170hp it does, but no tq. where as the 2.4 eco has equal tq thanks to 2.4L. the extra .4 L makes a difference.

I havnt driven the 3, but if its anything like the s40, then it should be amazing
both are nice, but the tc has sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo many options, and parts to put in it that you should go with the tc. And it also has a very distinct look, if you like that then i would go with the tc.

Anyone have any info on this??

Your standard Zetc with VVT is used on the exhaust cam for emissions control in place of an EGR system. At wide open throttle the VVT is disabled for max performance. The SVT focus uses VVT on the intake cam to increase performance as most people expect VVT to do.
2 completely different approaches to VVT technology.
