Thinking about a CAintake

Hey guys. I drive a 2008 Black Cobalt SS (sport) Naturally aspirated 2.4l with a 5spd manual. I love it. Im looking for a performance/sound upgrade though.

I'm thinking about getting the k&n typhoon CA intake for my car. Has anyone else done that? I hear about people noticing added power and better response. Is this true? Is it worth the $250?

I personally went with the Injen. I think the Short Ram gives better gains then the full CAI and the short ram is DEFINITELY louder.

Thanks!

From what Ive seen in my research, the K&N looks like the best bet. The 2.4 version was actually made for the 2.4 motor unlike the other intakes. When i save up some money, ill be buying it.

The K&N isn't technically a "cold air intake"....its just a short ram with a heatshield. A true cold air intke, like the Injen and AEM, actually place the filter far away from the motor, typically under the passenger's side headlight or next to the passenger side front tire.

But nontheless, i've heard alot of good things about the K&N for our cars. But I bought the AEM 2.2 CAI for my car looong before the K&N was released for our cars, so its staying on the car.

For top quality, go with Rebel
it's stainless steel, not aluminum like all the other ones, and it's a full 3'' intake

For "eye" appeal, the intakes with the filters inside the engine comaprtment win hands down.
They are all cold air induction (including the factory intake) as they draw air mostly from outside the engine compartment -- while driving the temperature of the air taken into the filter won't be different enough to make one provide more power over another one. Peformance wise they pretty much provide nearly the same increases -- except the GMPP Intake on the 2.4 because of it's 2.2 design and small opening in the Throttle body base tube. While the long tube intakes have the filter outside the engine compartment they lose some "eye" appeal because all you see is a tube when the hood is open. It just depends on what you like -- some like to see a tube and others like to see a filter.

It is the same red we use on our other cobalt products, sway bars, mounts, etc....

A member on here I am sure will be posting pics when he gets it on....

They look so nice with a custom coating.

Anyone else interested or want to purchase one, PM us, we will only do this for a limited time...

I disagree. I like my filter tucked away somewhere. Nothing fancy looking about a big dumb filter, lol.

I'm with ya I just like to see the nice piping. I've never seen a filter that I was like wow I wish I could look at that all the time.

That's why I ended my paragraph with "some like to see a tube and others like to see a filter". We all don't like the same thing...
