Traction Control Off???

Car started to buck a little bit and then the Traction Control light came on. The display told me traction was OFF. Any ideas why light came on? Could not find a dipstick to check the Auto tranny fluid.

No codes. It will just go into limp mode. ABS light comes one and shifts get firm, then shifts smooth out, but no ABS.

Read a few posts where different sensors going bad have lead to this problem.

the VVT solenoids failing will disable traction control and make the trans shift hard, but they will throw a check engine light and the ABS will still be functional, you sure you dont have any check engine codes?

I have no codes at all. The traction control goes into limp mode, shifts firm, then starts shifting normal but with no TC. Display says service traction. No codes.

has to be ABS sensor related, thats the only thing i can think of, the traction control system uses the ABS sensors to detect slippage between wheels

Codes today! Camshaft sensor. Fan 1 not working.

Fan 2 works, so basically I only get the cooling fan to work by using the A/C.

Think the previous owner used conventional oil. I changed it 1k miles ago with synthetic and a good filter. Display says I have 79% oil life left and the oil is already dark. I need to do repeated synthetic oil changes to clean her out (dirty/low oil can bunk up the camshaft sensor).

Also noticed the fuse box in the engine compartment had been removed previously. Might have to pull it to see why Fan 1 is not working. The relay seems to work, but does not turn on low speed fan. Going to pull the fuse box and see if any wires got pinched.

I don't know why anyone would run conventional oil these days.

Weird I get the same DIC message when I go around corners quickly or go over a really rough portion of road. Goes into limp mode. I think I'll just pull the ABS fuse and not woerry about it. lol

just got this car? good idea to just change the oil and reset the oil life so you know for sure that the oil is tip top. camshaft sensor code should tell you which one it is, easy fix really.

You likely have a blown fuse on fan circuit 1, they are 30 amp "TALL" fuses that you can get at advance auto parts.

Just look inside the little window of the fuse and see if it is broken, or they may have pulled the fuse all together.

Gave her a synthetic oil change right away. I noticed the fan when temps got high. Checked the fuses and found Fan 2 was blown. Fan 1 fuses were fine. I switched the relays around and ruled them out. You can feel the Fan 1 relay fire, but the fan does not turn on.

If it keeps popping the fuse its possible the fan motor has a dead short in it. Time to replace it.

The fuse replacement for Fan 2 has not blown since replacing. I also read someone one this forum was able to track down the wire that went bad going to the fan from the relay (engine compartment fuse box).

Maybe it's an easily pinched wire?

on a car this new, wiring harness problems are something that is rare, but its possible. Id be careful sticking your hand down in there with the car running. That fan can easily take a finger off.
