its not impossible to beat a cobalt ss sc( stock ) with a 2.4.......try header, intake, exhaust, tune and nitrous and that should be pretty damn close

Nitrous alone will do it if you get a 75 wet shot

Turbo or S/C your 2.4, otherwise spray is your friend.

Wow, I've been gone for a couple of days, so I decided to catch up on the threads. I've seen so many of these its not even funny. From the guy in the 2.2 beating a SS/SC, to emos and ebonics, to this. Haha..

To the OP------ nope, with those mods alone you don't stand a chance. You have to do major work to accomplish what you want, be it what MadMark has said, tune-intake-header-exhaust, a super or a turbo.

if u dont know what parts you will need to get where you are wanting to be as far as horsepower. dont wast your money on bolt ons and such. first educate yourself and gameplan. find out what you need, how much it will cost and so forth. ask yourself if its worth the money. and then do it right. dont just put a thousand or 2 thousand dollars in your car hoping that like magic your car will beat a supercharged performace car made to go fast from the factory. its going to be expinsive. Just dont throw away a cupple hundred dollars at a time before you know what your getting into. good luck!

Just curious if you wanted to beat a 2.0l supercharger why did you not buy one or did you have other plans for the 2.4

You must be one of those guys who race to like 50 mph huh but yeah he might get a ss/sc off the line but no way will he pass him by once the ss/sc has passed him unless he is heavily modified

why not get a 2.0? 1) insurance rates 2) price. i got my 2.2 for $9500 and an SS would be at least 16K used. yes i know the suspension may not be as good but there are things we can do to help. but, for ~$4500 you can have a stiffer ride close to an SS/SC's and a turbo kit to match the speed. plus you're saving yourself a lot of money on the insurance, especially if you're young which a lot of us are. so in the long run, its cheaper, and youll have a sleeper
i know you didn't mean it in a dick way (killer bee) but so many guys up here with a 2.0 think they're soo much better for having a more expensive car. just remember everyone has their reasons. i don't think anyone here would pick a 2.2l or 2.4l over a 2.0 supercharged just because they like it more

realistically?

a good head job, cam swap, larger injectors, decent tuning, perhaps a thinner head gasket to up compression a bit and studded head to keep things in check. i'd toss on either a good header/dp or maybe a long tube... big clutch, sticky tires. that'll let you at least run with an SC. now, a hopped SC, that's another matter. but, in reality, if you're a good driver, and you let the 2.4 run well, you're a lot closer than people want to admit.

Yeah true but i think i rather have a LSJ motor over anything else but that is my opinion on that well there are kids on here that do have the ss/ssc cars but i can see where you care coming from on the insurance thing
