I am looking at getting a magnaflow muffler for my car. I am going to have the shop replace the over the axle piece with 2.5 inch tubing and I plan on using the stock exhaust tip. I am trying to figure out what the inlet diameter of the exhaust tip is? I want to try and get the right muffler inlet outlet diamters before I go to the shop. Right now I am looking at the 11216 magnaflow inlet/outlet 2.5 inches oval body.

I did this exact mod, you need a 2.5 inlet/outlet muffler. I got the exhaust shop to cut the extender piece from the stock muffler with the tip and weld that whole piece onto my dynomax muffler. That way it looks stock from the back with your nice oem tip showing.

Did you get center in center out on the muffler?

 

This is the muffler I got its center/offset. Sounds very mellow and not loud either. I'm sure you can get a offset/centre muffler from magnaflow no problem though. Post some vids or pics when you get it installed.
